Precast Electrical Duct Bank HIGHLIGHTS OF RECENT PROJECTS RED-E-DUCT Precast Electrical Duct Bank is changing the way underground electrical duct banks are designed and installed. These recent project examples demonstrate how RED-E-DUCT saves time and reduces labor requirements, allowing construction teams to complete installations faster and at a lower total cost. Industrial PAPER PACKAGING MILL Using a trench box and a backhoe, the project team installed sixteen conduit joints in a 4High x 4Wide RED-E-DUCT, nearly 160 feet of conduit in full concrete encasement, in less than two minutes. The RED-E-DUCT installation occurred in January with an average daily high temperature of 24 o F. If conventional cast in place construction methods would have been used, the underground construction work would have taken much longer to complete and at significant additional expense to the Owner. EFFICIENCY ENGINEERED TM Oil, Gas & Chemical LNG PRODUCTION AND EXPORT FACILITY More than 4,500 Standard and Stub Up RED-E-DUCT sections were produced, delivered and installed in record time. The installation contractor realized a significant reduction in the labor required to install and complete the buried conduit system. Precast duct bank was installed and backfilled throughout the project site enabling other work activity to begin earlier than if conventional cast in place construction methods had been used. Power Generation 1,182MW COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANT RED-E-DUCT assisted the project team with overcoming local craft labor shortages and an aggressive completion schedule. Schedule and cost savings resulting from the use of the precast duct bank exceeded the client’s expectations. Forterra was recognized by the contractor as a key contributing supplier and presented an award for exceptional new product and performance.

730MW COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANT, WI

RED-E-DUCT was selected to accelerate underground duct bank construction and project planners were not disappointed. A four-man crew routinely installed four thousand 4,000 feet of 4 inch conduit encased in precast concrete in an eight-hour shift. Horizontal and vertical duct bank runs were installed using a combination of RED-E-DUCT Standards and Stub-ups.

ETHANE CRACKER/PETROCHEMICAL FACILITY, TX

RED-E-DUCT was installed under and alongside site access roads in multiple locations. Precast Duct Bank became an ideal solution where site conditions required managing a high-water table and demanded rapid installation to ensure road closures and site disruptions were kept to an absolute minimum.

OIL REFINERY, CA

Plant equipment retrofits requiring traditional underground duct bank construction significantly disrupt normal facility operation resulting in loss of production and revenue. Chevron and the design/construction team selected RED-E-DUCT to construct duct banks which will signifi-cantly reduce the impact of construction on facility operations. Addi-tionally, on-site safe working conditions improve as fewer workers are required with less time required in confined trenches.
