PREAMBLE

•  All paper bags must be cleaned thoroughly before putting them into the clean room! (blow it off with N2, use iso-propanol, a tacky roller, etc.)

•  Please use a new bag after you unpack your GEM for the first time after transportation

•  Paper bags should be used only once per transportation

•  Operations with the paper bags (packing/unpacking of GEMs) should be done by two people

GEM PACKING

•  Put the GEM in the Optiguard® on the table (optionally covered with a protection foil)

•  Arrange the GEM foil in one edge of the paper bag.

•  Close the open side of the paper bag •  Close the open side of the paper bag

•  Fold a strip of 2-3 cm

•  Glue the folded part to the paper bag (using blue tape) (1)

•  Close the sides of the overlapping area (blue tape) (2)

•  Fold the long side of the paper bag •  This folding need to be tight to fit to the GTS •  Put blue tape to fix

1. Remove the external screws of the GTS box 2. Remove the top plate cover 3. Remove the second and the third plates 4. Unscrew the metal spacers on each one of the plates 5. Unscrew the aluminium supports – 3 on each side of the plate 6. Clean the GTS drawers

6.  Accommodate the GEM foil. 3 foils per plate 7.  Screw the aluminium supports 8.  Screw the metal spacer 9.  Put the next layer on the top of it, and repeat the steps 6 to 8 – always check if the o-ring is in

the correct position 10. Put the cover plate on the top and close the box with the screws 11.  Roll the GTS inside the wooden box

GEM FROM GTS 1.  Clean the transport box

2.  Open the transport box in a controlled area and unscrew aluminum supports

3.  Clean the paper bag from outside in the gowning area by blowing it off with N2

4.  Transport a packed GEM foil in the clean room

5.  Store the foil in dry cabinet.
