Pre-University Taster SUMMER SCHOOL

During our Pre-Univrsity Taster Summer School, students live and learn like real university students, using facilities that Lynn University students use throughout the year.

Students take their usual 15 hours of English tuition in the mornings to help improve their General English. They will also have additional sessions in afternoons and a Saturday morning to give them a taste of life at a USA university and the skills needed for success at university and beyond. Afternoon sessions will focus on:

• Introduction to university life and the USA university application process

• Admissions/careers Workshops • TOEFL taster lesson• Academic subjects taught in English

(Social Entrepreneurship)

Key Facts• English Lessons/Hours per week: 20 / 15• English Lesson length: 45 minutes• English Lesson schedule: Mornings• Taster lessons/Hours per week: 4 / 6• Taster lesson length: 1.5 hours• Taster lesson schedule: Afternoons • Course length: 2 weeks• Starting dates: 26 Jun - 07 Aug• Levels: B1 and higher• Age: 12-18• Minimum number to run: 2

Objectives • To give students a taste of university life in

the USA• To explain the USA university application

process and learn about TOEFL, which is a requirement of all US universities

• To learn about different career opportunities from professionals in key industries

• Students will have the opportunity to take academic subjects in English – to see the difference between learning a subject in their own language and in English
