EVERY WEEK Greet parents and swimmers individually, prompt them to tell you about something, e.g. their favorite color. Pool and safety rules, including keep your hands on the wall, unless we are working together, remember your listening ears at all times, no running on deck, etc. ID Lifeguard and ID what color they wear, what they do, deepen explanation every week and prompt swimmers with questions. • Kicking with kickboard/barbell/noodle giving them moments of support as needed for multiple lengths of 15-25 yards encouraging them to put their chins on the kickboard and lean forward.

• Talk about how to use “scoopers.”

• Review over arm recovery on wall.

• Assisted (as needed) practice swimming on stomach or vertically up to 15 yards using scoopers.

• Assisted jumps (as needed, encouraging them to be more and more independent) from the wall; encourage them to swim back on their own.

•Kick feet and blowing bubbles with face in the water breathing to the side (this may take much encouragement over the 11 weeks).

•Kick with kickboard or barbell, blowing bubbles, 25 yards on belly, kick back on back.

•Review over arm recovery. Practice on the wall. Demonstrate proper technique, then practice over arm recovery by swimming 15 feet, then correcting the technique. Add glides here when swimmers are ready.

•Practice swimming 25 yards with eyes in the water and over arm recovery.

• ave swimmers attempt bobs, some swimmers may be very afraid of the water, but many at this age will do this easily. For swimmers who are fully submerging begin encouraging them to blow bubbles under the water.

•Practice kicking on the wall. Correct and discuss proper technique.

•Kick with kickboards for 25 yards blowing bubbles. Stay near swimmers who are unsure or scared. Make sure you keep an eye on all swimmers. Kick back to shallow end using over arm recovery with kickboards.

•Demonstrate how to properly do a front crawl arms, then let them practice on the wall.

•Demonstrate how to do proper breathing: bubbles in the water, ear in the water to breathe. Let them try it at the wall, then in 15 feet distances.

•Demonstrate how to properly do a front crawl arm with rotary breathing; let them try it at the wall, then in 15 feet distances.

•Have all swimmers sit on the wall and begin working on swimming without bubble. Try lesser bubbles and change bubbles as needed. (Begin Week 2).
