Understanding the Enrollment Process

Pre-enrollment is the first step in a four step process to enroll in The Pre-K 4 SA program. Pre-enrollment will take place through the month of May. In June students who meet state eligibility re-quirements and are pre-enrolled will be selected through a lottery to attend Pre-K 4 SA. In July lottery-

selected students will en-roll in Pre-K 4 SA through their respective school districts, while lottery se-lected-students who are not state eligible will enroll through the City.

All accepted students will be noti-

fied in July or August.

What to Expect at the Pre-Enrollment Fairs

The purpose of pre-enrollment is to create a pool of eligible students from which to choose who will be attending though the lottery process.

At the pre-enrollment fairs parents will be given forms to fill out that indi-cate name, address, and age, and school district they live with in. Parents should bring with them an original birth certificate and a document showing proof of residency to be check by City staff. Once

these forms are com-pleted, the parent or fam-ily will submit the forms with the city. Finally, they will talk with a mem-ber for their re-spective school district regarding when to they will need to enroll with the school district if their child is se-lected in the lottery. While a parent or family may pre-enroll their child at any fair, it is recom-

mended they attend the fairs taking place within the school district in

which they reside. Pre-enrollment fairs are for state eligible and income-based eligible children.
