COURSE OUTLINE Based on the pre-hospital trauma care philosophy, this course emphasises on the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs, which may require an approach that varies from traditional treatment modalities. The 2-day course consists of lectures, interactive skills stations and pre & post assessment tests. Individuals who successfully complete the provider course will be certified by The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), USA. This certificate is valid for 4 years. COURSE OBJECTIVES To provide a description of the physiology, patho-physiology, and kinetics of injuries. To help participants understand the need for a rapid assessment of the trauma patient. To advance participants’ level of knowledge in examination and diagnostic skills. To advance participants’ competencies in specific pre-hospital trauma intervention skills. To provide an overview and establish a management method for the pre-hospital care of the multi-system trauma patient. With a good foundation of knowledge and key principles, pre-hospital practitioners will be equipped to make reasonable decisions in caring for patients. This is a 2-day course developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), USA, and conducted by Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and the SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Medical Simulation (SIMS). COURSE INFORMATION: 26 - 27 Mar | 27 - 28 Aug | 26 - 27 Nov 2019 COURSE FEE: SGD800.00 (inclusive of GST) Participants must attend all the lectures and skills practice sessions in order to successfully complete the course. Participants who are late for more than 1.5 hours from the stated start time will not be able to join the course and will be deemed as absent.
