It was an anniversary of the Battle of Britain and a BBC TV
journalist is interviewing a elderly former American WWII fighter
pilot from the deep South.
Interviewer: So Mr. Bragg, During the Battle of Britain in 1940, I
understand that you shot down five German aircraft in a single
engagement. Could you tell us what happened?
American Fighter Pilot: "Well we were flying at 20,000 feet when we
spotted five Fokkers flying along below us. So we dived down and I
aimed at one of the Fokkers and fired a burst from my machine guns
right into him and he exploded. Then I saw that one of the Fokkers was
on my tail, so I pulled up in a loop and got behind him, and fired and he
went down on fire. I looked around and saw two Fokkers attacking my
squadron leader, so I slipped in behind them, and fired, and that was
another Fokker going down in flames. The other Fokker tried to get
away from me, but I got right up behind
him, and blasted him with my 20mm
machine guns and he turned over and
exploded. There was only one of the
Fokkers left now, and he was trying to get
away, but I flew up behind him, shot - rat
tat tat tat tat tat- and he blew up too!
Interviewer: I should point out for the benefit of the viewers at home, that
the Fokker was a type of German aircraft used in the war.
American Fighter Pilot: No, no, no - these fokkers were Messerschmitts!
Pre-Flight SAFETY Video Out of Order. Live from the cockpit:
Greetings from the cockpit... this is your captain speaking.... Our AV
system isn’t working today so we can’t show you the $2 million safety
video that an ad agency did for us.
But since very little of what that video
tells you will actually save your lives...
I’m going to do it instead.
The FAA says the 60% of you ignore
the safety talk. Today you will hear the
real safety talk that should have been
given years ago. You don’t want to miss this one.
Here’s the big thing to remember.
If we crash or make an emergency landing, statistically speaking,
95% of you will survive. If it’s a serious crash, 55% of you will
survive.
So if this plane goes down, concentrate, because your life may
depend on some smart decisions.
Keep in mind that 80% of accidents happen within the first three
minutes and the last 8 minutes of the flight, so that’s when it would be
wise to keep your shoes on and put your laptops away and stay
focused.
The safest seats on this plane are the ones facing backward like the
ones the flight crew are seated in..... No that’s not a coincidence.
The next safest seats are over the wings, closest to the emergency
exit. If you’re not in one of those right now, that’s a bummer. But
here’s what you can do to help ensure your survival.
Look where the nearest exit is. Now count the rows between you and
that exit. If the cabin were full of smoke or upside-down or full of
smoke and upside-down how would you get to the exit?
Take a moment to visualize yourself doing just that..... Now, look at
your seatbelt. I know you all know how to use it. But that’s because
nothing is making you lose your shit right now.
Its common for people in emergency stress situations to try to open
that thing by pressing a button that’s not actually there like the seatbelt
in your car.... So take a moment to imagine yourself lifting that flap in
an emergency. Good luck with a safe slight!

being routed to the Department of Peace
and Unicorns. They will call you back in

as my last name is too hard.”
The next day, I received a letter addressed to Sgt. Larry Tohard.
