Law on Vietnamese workers working abroad
under contract came into force on 1st July 2007
and guiding documents have been creating legal
framework to manage the activities of sending
workers abroad, thus, promoting the rights of
migrant workers

Law defines legal forms regulating the
process of Vietnamese workers working
abroad:
1. Licensed manpower companies;
2. Vietnamese companies which have investment
projects overseas;
3.Internship programmes;
4. Individual contract directly signed between
Vietnamese workers with foreign employee.

REGULATIONS ON PRE-DEPARTURE TRAINING
Licensed manpower company is responsible to provide pre-
departure training for workers (regulated in Law on Vietnamese
Workers working abroad under contract)
- Duration: 74 sections , including16 practising sections
- Contents: law and regulations on Vietnamese workers working
abroad; principles and safety regulations; culture and lifestyles of
destinations countries; transportations and remittance…
- Training location: Licensed companies provide training at their
own training centers.

GENDER – SENSITIVE CURRICULUM
A pilot programme
Under the Project “Empowering Vietnamese Women Migrants”
Have conducted pilot training for 300 workers at 15 classes
Training for Trainers (TOT) for 24 teachers from 12 licensed companies in the North of Vietnam
GENDER – SENSITIVE CURRICULUM
Includes 4 sections:
1. Sex and Gender
2. Basic Rights of Women Migrants
3. Gender –related issues to workers working abroad
4. Potential cases and risks and some soft skills to protect women
migrants working abroad
