Praying the Rosary

The Rosary is a sacramental.

• A sacramental is an action or object that helps us to pray.

We begin with the crucifix

• Hold the crucifix in your hands as you pray the Sign of the Cross and the Apostles’ Creed.

The first set of beads

• The single bead Pray the “Lord’s Prayer” • The set of 3 beads Pray a “Hail Mary” on each, followed by “Glory Be to the Father”• Another single bead Think about the first mystery and then pray the “Lord’s Prayer”

The first decade

• Pray a “Hail Mary” on each of the 10 beads. End the decade with “Glory Be to the Father.”

• Think about the next mystery on the single bead, then pray the “Lord’s Prayer”

We remember the Glorious Mysteries on Wednesdays and Sundays

• The Resurrection• The Ascension• The Descent of the Holy Spirit Upon the

We remember the Mysteries of Light on Thursdays

• Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan• The Miracle at the Wedding at Cana• Jesus Announces the Kingdom of God• The Transfiguration • The Institution of the Eucharist

After the fifth decade

• We end by holding the medal and praying the Hail, Holy Queen.

• Then hold the crucifix and pray the sign of the cross.
