INTERCESSIONS

For the Church – that, inspired by the communion of love that is the Holy Trinity, faith communities would listen to one another, learn how to come to agreement and seek to live in peace. Lord, in your mercy….. Hear our prayer. For people of all Christian denominations – that though separated by practice, they open to the movement of the Holy Spirit, and seek ways to renew bonds of friendship and worship. Lord, in your mercy... For national and international leaders– that they would promote tolerance among peoples and seek to bring peace and understanding to places of unrest, violence or war. Lord, in your mercy...

For health professionals – that those who have served their communities so selflessly during the pandemic, be enriched with the understanding that their service is a service of love to human communities, and a sharing in the work of the Holy Trinity, the great communion of love that seeks fullness of life for all. Lord, in your mercy… For our own faith communities – that we learn to widen our gaze to see the poor, the hungry, the hurting and the homeless in our midst, and respond to their needs. Lord, in your mercy... For those who have been baptised in the Name of the Holy Trinity — that they may enter God’s heavenly home, opened for us by the death and resurrection of Jesus. We remember also … Lord, in your mercy…

PRAYER IN THIS CRISIS

Almighty and all-merciful God, lover of the human race, healer of all our wounds, in whom there is no shadow of death, save us in this time of crisis; grant wisdom and courage to our leaders; watch over all medical people as they tend the sick and work for a cure; stir in us a sense of solidarity beyond all isolation; if our doors are closed, let our hearts be open. By the power of your love destroy the virus of fear, that hope may never die and the light of Easter, the triumph of life, may shine upon us and the whole world. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Holy Mary, health of the sick, pray for us. St Joseph, guardian of us all, pray for us.

SANCTIFYING SUNDAY

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

REFLECT FIRST READING

In Moses’ appeal to the Lord to remain with the Israelites despite their sinfulness, God reveals his fidelity and mercy. Where do you see these aspects of God in your life journey?

SECOND READING

We hear today one of the earliest New Testament references to the Holy Trinity in Paul’s closing remarks to the Christians in Corinth. For Paul, the Trinity embodies grace, love, and fellowship. What insight does this offer us about our Triune God?

GOSPEL READING

This well-known text from the Gospel of John reveals to us God’s self-sacrifice for our salvation. Why do you think so many people reject or simply ignore this offer of eternal life from God?

The Army of the Lord A man was coming out of church one Easter morning, and the pastor was standing at the door as always to shake hands. He grabbed the man by the hand and pulled him aside. The pastor said to him, “Son, we need you to join the Army of the Lord!” The man replied, “I’m already in the Army of the Lord, Father.” “Then how come I don’t see you except at Christmas and Easter?” the pastor questioned. He whispered back, “I’m in the secret service.”

The Pastor’s Pen It’s wonderful to think that we are able to begin re-opening our Churches and gathering together in the body as the Body of Christ. I continue to draw your attention to the information found on the previous two pages about our COVIDsafe practices. I have also done up a small video, which is available from the News section of the front page of our parish website (and on facebook).

If by Monday you have NOT received an email about registering for Masses please email the Parish Office. If you do not have an email address, please phone the parish office. If you are struggling with the whole registration thing, please call us. I would like to express deep thanks, once again, to Marcella, Julie and Beth who have worked very hard to ensure that everything is in place for our reopening. It has been a herculean effort to ensure that meeting rooms, and multiple churches are set up correctly. Thanks to Joe and Julie Rupp with the help for St Peter’s and Paula Henderson for the help with St Teresa’s. Thanks to Pauline and Margaret for organising the entire ring-around of our parish (or at least that very large number in our books). Thank you to the more than twenty others who made the phone calls to check our data. It was wonderful to hear so many positive comments from

the phone calls and to hear how many people have been supported by our efforts in streaming Masses and ensuring that the newsletter has been widely available. If you are a Catholic school teacher and are wondering why no one called you, it is because I made the decision to ease our efforts and reduce the number of phone calls by 200 by using the all-staff email addresses. We would actually love to have you registered, if you are not already—so, if you would like to, please visit inghamcatholic. com/register and enter your details there.

Please note that from next weekend, the Sunday morning Mass at Ingham will be streamed at 7.30am. We are adding an extra Mass in Ingham in anticipation of the move to 100 (which only Ingham can accommodate).

I have made the decision not to start Masses at Canossa just yet. The chapel can only seat about 25 people and we will need more available slots for Sunday Masses when we are allowed up to 100 people. At that stage, there will be two Sunday morning Masses in Ingham. I also still need to ensure that all the Diocesan COVIDsafe elements are in place in the chapel (such as removing seats and roping off pews). We have not had time to do that as of yet. Naturally, I will keep you all informed.

God bless
