Small Group Ministry:  Today we’ll begin a three-week Small Group Sermon Series this week, titled "Why River Rock Church Exists; Stories that stir our heart."  This series is based on The Prodigal Son and the Great Commandment, two stories that capture the story of River Rock. Study guides will be available on our website and at church each week.  If you are not connected to a small group this is a perfect opportunity to try it out, only a three week commitment.  It is also an opportunity to meet others at River Rock Church. Mark Your Calendar! River Rock Church will be hosting its 3rd annual BENEFIT CONCERT on Saturday, May 17 at 7PM. All proceeds will go towards providing bi-monthly hot meals for Urban Family Ministries' Super Saturdays and local families in need. Musical artists David Parker (Montana), Joy Ike (Pittsburgh), Cameron Blake, and Matt Huizenga will be performing their original songs solo for this intimate evening of music! More details coming soon.

Local Need: A local homebound woman that we have been walking alongside is in need of a recliner chair and sofa that will provide good lumbar support.  She suffers from many health issues resulting in chronic pain so she spends much of her time in the chair or on the sofa. A gently used or new set would be such a blessing! Please contact Jeanne for more details or if you have something that might fill this need. Stephen Ministry: We are praising God for 11 people who attended the Introductory Workshop at LaGrave CRC! If you are interested in learning more about Stephen Ministry at River Rock please contact Laurel Verburg ([email protected]) or Jeanne Maher.

Stephen Ministry: In Ephesians 4 Paul talks about pastors and other leaders as gifts God has given the church "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."  Stephen Ministry will give us an organized way to equip those gifted for caring ministry so that they can build up the body of Christ by providing Christ-centered care and support to those experiencing a difficult time. We will begin River Rock's first training for Stephen Ministers in the fall of 2014.  If you are interested in this training, please contact Jeanne Maher (see back of weekly) or Laurel Verburg at [email protected]

Reverb: Changes, questions, confusion, challenges, feelings, excitement . . . in a word, adolescence! Please pray for the ministry of Ashley Edwards through Reverb as she seeks to reach out to middle school students in our community with the grace and truth of Jesus  Christ.  Ask God to give her the wisdom and strength to make use of every opportunity to evangelize young people who have little or no spiritual background and to encourage Christian students to  live for their Lord.  Pray also that her work would not be hindered in any way.
