biographers.

What do we see Jesus saying and doing in

these four biographies that we ought to be

saying and doing in our lives?

Jesus’ teaching:

The simplicity of (5-7, 13)

The bluntness of (7, 23)

The basis of (4:4, 6, 7, 10)

Mark is said to have obtained his information from Peter, an eye and ear-witness to Christ, and thus very reliable, and dated around A.D. 60.

Mark was with Peter when he wrote his first epistle and the two were evidently very close (my son Mark, 1 Pet. 5:13).

12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 13 I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, 14 knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind. 2 Pet. 1:12-15

This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. 2 Pet. 3:1

1-Jesus’ life was one of constant activitythe one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same

Mark’s crucifixion account

Mark 1625 It was the third hour when they crucified him. 26 The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS. 27 They crucified two robbers with him, one on his right and one on his left.


Mark 1629 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, "So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 come down from the cross and save yourself


Mark 1631 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. "He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! 32 Let this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.


Mark 1633 At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"-which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" 35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, "Listen,


Mark 16he's calling Elijah." 36 One man ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to take him down," he said. 37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
