A Prayer for Our Patients

O God of life, we thank you that you are with each

patient, within each patient, and beyond each pa­

tient. Empower them with your strength and cour­

age when they face life challenges and health de­

cisions. Open them to new possibilities when they

encounter their limitations and their fears. Sustain

them with peace and hope when they wait with un­

answered questions. Hear them when they cry in la­

ment, and when they celebrate with joy. Surround

each one with skilled and compassionate caregiv­

ers who re mind them that they are not alone. And

embrace them with the breadth and depth of your

healing love.

Why a Prayer List Ministry?

The Prayer List Ministry is designed to mobilize people of faith to pray for the needs of the patients and families at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. When a child is ill or injured, many lives are impact­ed. Stresses and struggles can become overwhelming. ACH cares for patients from all over Arkansas, and indeed the world. There are more than 250,000 patient visits each year. For those who believe in the power of prayer, what better way to support those in need than to pray for them.

How It Works The Chaplains in the Pastoral Care Department at ACH have the goal of visiting each patient and fam­ily after they are admitted to the hospital. During that visit, the chaplains present the families with the op­portunity to complete a Prayer Card with their child’s needs. These Prayer Cards are also located in the hospital’s Chapel which is always open for quiet and prayer. The Pastoral Care office compiles the information and sends a list of requests including the patient’s first name, age, and brief request to those who have agreed to partner with us in this ministry. The list is sent weekly by E­mail to a designated person or office. Each organization or church may then distribute the list to its members.
