Mr Bradley Hall -

Live Jesus in Our Hearts … Forever, Amen.

(Mr Hall - Principal)

God has created me to do for him some definite service.

He has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another.

I have my mission - I may never know it in this life,

But I shall know it in the next.

I have a part in this great work. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between people. God has not created me for nothing. I shall do good, I shall do his work; I shall be an angel of peace,

a preacher of truth in my own place, even while not intending it, if I do but keep his commandments and serve him in my calling.

Therefore I will trust in him.

Whatever I am, where I am, I can never be thrown away.

If I am in sickness, my sickness can serve him;

In perplexity my perplexity may serve him.

He does nothing in vain. He knows what he is about.

(John Henry Newman)

Boxes and Envelopes available in all Churches.

We currently have an important opportunity to role model Christian virtue to our family and friends.

We can decide to be intentional in avoiding contagious catastrophizing or complaining and rather choose to be calm, stable and centred. We can choose to be virtuous in patience, and undefeatable in hope and

cheer while facing the real storms and challenges of our time, knowing God is with us through it all.

Pictured above L-R: Certificate II Creative Industries teacher Mr Withnell, Assistant Producer Kal Englishby, Senior Producer Robin Shingleton, Certificate II Creative Industries Year 11 student Cameron Lightfoot and Year 12 student Grace Paterson.

13 March - Filmmaker Electric Pictures Pty Ltd visit: Producers of the documentary “Aussie Gold Hunters” now entering it’s 5th Season on the Discovery Channel, gave a talk to our keen media students on how to promote an idea to make a successful Australian documentary in the regions. Senior Producer Robin Shingleton told a story of how Electric Pictures, although based in East Fremantle, WA, had been able to offer their production services to work in a continuous 24hour production loop in partnership with a company in the UK. “They worked while we slept and vice versa we worked while they slept.” He affirmed that Australian 3D animated graphic designers are highly sought after. Using a flow chart, Mr Shingleton described the process of how to make a documentary from finding a storyline, pitching the idea to producers, sponsorship, film companies, casting, re-production, and hopefully, distribution around the World. Assistant Producer Kal Englishby gave students an insight into her chosen pathway studying at the selective WA Screen Academy at Edith Cowan University. The Arts and Humanities course specializes in the areas of producing, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound and editing. She encouraged students to start to get a portfolio of work together now if they wanted to pursue the same pathway.

Kal showed students excerpts from documentaries she had been involved in; the “100 Days to Victory” on the History Channel idea, came from the change of guard when the Australian and Canadian generals took over from the English and changed the course of WWI. The use of computer generated imagery (CGI) and visual effects is widely used to show the realistic struggle of soldiers fighting in the trenches.

Also used in the “Drain the Oceans’” documentary on the National Geographic Network, Kal described how the use of sonic radar technology enabled CGI artists to create the 3D imagery. With technology, growing in leaps and bounds she advised the budding film makers to keep up to date with its progress.

Kal also touched on casting and of the larger than life characters in the “Aussie Gold Hunters” series, whose performances and escapades in their search for gold

made the show so enjoyable to watch. The majority of the documentary is filmed in the Eastern Goldfields. The characters bring the excitement of the hunt and also the challenges they face in an unwelcoming Australian Outback landscape to fans all over the World.

We thank the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission for their help in bringing the production company to talk to our students.

19 March - Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers: Yesterday afternoon, Fr Stephen trained 5 senior students to become Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers. Hannah Johnstone (Year 12), Jesuyon Alfred (Year 12) Lily Money (Y12), Sam Dyne (Year 11) and Julia Ocean (Year 12) pictured below L-R with

Fr Stephen respectively in the College Chapel.

The students did very well and we are looking forward to their Commissioning Mass, which will happen later in the year when public

masses are once again permitted. These students will be able to assist the priest (the ‘ordinary’ minister of the Eucharist) with the distribution of the Holy Eucharist during mass at the College and in their parish church: a great honour given the significance of the

Eucharist.

During the training session, student’s learned about the importance of the Eucharist as well as how to conduct themselves during Holy Communion. The students were also given the

opportunity to practice distributing both the Communion Hosts and the wine (The body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ) and were

instructed on how to handle various scenarios.

Well done to our students and thank you to Father Stephen for his time and valuable

knowledge.

(Ms Markham - Liturgy and Faith Formation Coordinator)
