The word “princess” is showing up on everything from baby onesies to coffee mugs and car bumper stickers. But what does “princess” really communicate? Its definition is, “the daughter of a royal family, especially of a king or queen”.

In Romans chapter 8 verse 14, Paul talks about all those who have received the Holy Spirit as being children of God, adopted into God’s family—it’s your adoption into sonship (and daughtership). “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.” Romans 8:16.

The Princess Experience, hosted by Teen Haven, is rooted in this amazing truth that God, the Father, offers adoption into His kingdom, therefore making us a part of the royal family. With that as the foundation, twenty-two teenaged girls, from all different cultural and family backgrounds, are embarking on a five-week journey to understand their worth through

the eyes of their Father. The Experience infuses confidence into these young women in ways they might not hear about at home or from their peers. One girl commented, “Words of people and men don’t bring life. The words of God do bring life and it’s all about who God says you are.”

The Experience ends with a day and evening filled with glamour and relationship building. “The best part of the Princess Experience for me was dancing with my dad for the first time and seeing him bring me flowers,” said a teen from last season’s Princess Experience.

When young women believe that their worth and value is rooted in God’s truth, then their relationship with others will expand in new and exciting ways. That’s the effect of The Princess Experience—and you can’t fit that on a bumper sticker.•
