Father Bruce’s Lenten Series: Meditations on the Visions of Saint Bridget St. Bridget of Sweden had many visions of Christ crucified and of His sufferings through her life, starting at the age of 7. From her childhood, she was greatly devoted to the Passion of Jesus.
Fr. Bruce will hold different talks with music meditations on these visions of St. Bridget on Monday nights at 6:00pm in the church on these dates:

What are the Scrutinies? These very special rites are celebrated on the middle three Sundays of Lent, at liturgies where our RCIA Catechumens and Candidates are present. Part of their journey to the font is that they have been received among us, the Rite of Acceptance, and they have been enrolled in the Book of the Elect in the Rite of Election.
These are ancient rites and they may, at first, seem strange to us. But they are profoundly rooted in our human experience. We need to examine (scrutinize) how we are, the areas of our lives where we are tempted, or seriously sin - in what we do and what we fail to do. We really need healing and the strength that can come from the support of our sisters and brothers.
One of the most powerful moments of the Scrutinies is how they begin. After the homily, Candidates & Catechumens are invited to come forward with their sponsors. The whole assembly is invited to pray for them in silence. It is a very solemn moment. This community has cared for them for some months now on their journey. We have sent them to reflect more and more deeply on the Word of God, and expressed to them our longing for the day on which they would join us at the table of the Lord. Now we pray for them in this sacred silence, deeply asking God to protect them and heal them in the weeks ahead. We pray that they might be freed from the Evil One and protected on their journey. Then the priest lays his hands on the head of each of the Elect, calling the Spirit of Jesus to be with them and protect them. Please remember to pray for our RCIA Candidates & Catechumens as they ready themselves to be baptized or come into full communion with the Church for the Easter Vigil!
Divine Mercy Consecration 33 Days to Merciful Love
Join us for a 33 day consecration to Merciful Love, which begins on Tuesday, March 26th. This is a self-led study that only takes about 5 minutes a day to read. We are using the book 33 Days to Merciful Love by Fr. Michael Gaitley, the same author that wrote 33 Days to Morning Glory.
Saint Pope John Paul II emphasized that now is the time of mercy, now is a time of great and extraordinary grace, a time in which all of us can become great saints — if we tap into that grace. One of the ways we tap into that grace is by asking God to fill us with an ocean of His tenderness and mercy. And we do that by consecrating ourselves to His Mercy. Please consider joining us. All are welcome!
We will have Consecration books available for purchase for $15 in the parish office during the week, or in the narthex after each Mass this weekend. We will also have a Flocknote text group for our participants - please sign up for this in the narthex or email [email protected].
Consecration begins March 26th and will end on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28th, with a special consecration ceremony and blessing after the 8:30am Mass. Contact the office for more information.

Old Palms At Home? If you’re looking to re-home the blessed palms you have from previous years, please bring them to church and place them in the marked basket in the narthex. They will be properly burned in the Easter Vigil fire.
Join the new Be the One Ministry! Saint Teresa of Calcutta had a prayer card with an image of Jesus in His suffering on the front. Below the image it bore a verse from one of the Psalms which we often hear during Lent, particularly on Good Friday or at Stations of the Cross. Psalm 69 is one of those prophetic Psalms foretelling the “Suffering Servant”, as described more fully in the Book of Isaiah; verse 21 of the Psalm, says, “I looked for one that would comfort me, and I found no
one.” On Saint Teresa’s prayer card, underneath the image and the quote from the Psalms, she wrote, “Be the one.”
There is something disarmingly simple, but also profound about this juxtaposition. The call from the Cross, as contained in the Psalm, was answered in the to-the-point response of Saint Teresa. Hers was not simply a pious reaction, but a command to herself. Maybe you aren’t called to go out into the slums of a faraway place like Calcutta. Yet there are people you know who could use some love, some attention, and some comfort from you. Be the one to bring it to them.
Kim Ramirez will be coordinating our new Be The One Ministry at Sacred Heart. The mission of Be The One Ministry is to console Jesus, the Head of the Body, by consoling Jesus in the members of His Body through acts of comfort, love and compassion. We will start small and will serve in the following 3 ways initially:
1. Bringing meals to the families of parishioners who are having major illness or surgery.
2. Bringing a meal and a gift to parishioner moms who recently had a new baby.
3. Sending care packages to parishioners or their family members that are in the military.
So, how can you help? The growth and success of this ministry will
depend on those who volunteer!
1. Volunteer to Be The One who cooks and brings a meal, or who donates supplies to the care packages. There will be a box in the narthex with a list of the supplies that can be sent overseas.
2. Contact Kim Ramirez if your family or a parishioner you know needs one of the services we will be providing. We need you to be on the lookout for those we can help!
3. Let Kim know if you would be interested in helping in another way; we would like to expand our offer of help to others in more ways once we add enough volunteers to the ministry.
There will be sign up sheets in the narthex starting this weekend, and Kim will be available after all Masses to answer questions. If you are interested in helping, please sign up in the narthex or call/email Kim Ramirez directly at 815-631-3246 / [email protected].
