FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Fr. Xavier has returned from his vacation. Thank God! Fr. Heni did a great job. Now, I hope everything will be back to normal and I can relax. I am still working on our budget and I hope to have it completed and balanced by August 1, 2017. Please pray for our Parish that we can meet the demands and provide the necessary requirements of the every day operations of the Parish. Again, I remind you that our Parish Raffle, “Pot of Gold” is a very important way of balancing our budget. Please purchase a ticket. Not only will you be helping our Parish but you may even win $5000! Tickets are available afer all the Masses and at the Rectory. The Drawing will take place on August 5, after the 4 o’clock Mass. In the meantime, I’ll get back to my macaroni and meatballs! Fr. George

Thirteenth Sunday In Ordinary Time

For the Glory of God The glory of God is a human being fully alive.

St. IrenaeusThe supreme purpose in life for any man or women is to glorify God. While on earth the one and only purpose of Jesus is to glory God the Father. Jesus glorified God the Father by accomplishing the work that the Father gave him to do. (Jn.17:4) In other words, God the Father was glorified in the completion of the messianic work of Christ. It means that by doing one’s works or responsibilities one can glorify God. Glorifying God is the end of the result of Christian life. Glorifying God has absolutely nothing to do with how people will react as a result of what one has done for God. The reason is that one can not satisfy everybody in this world. Everybody has different responsibilities on this earth according to the state of one’s life. As a priest, my responsibility is to take care of the faithful, guide and direct them towards God and His values. As a family member, (Husband, Wife, Father, Mother, Son, Daughter …) you may have different responsibilities. The primary responsibility of a family man or woman is to take care of one’s family. By doing our responsibilities sincerely we can glorify God. In addition to this responsibility, everybody has social responsibility too. Most of the time, due to our fallen nature we do our responsibilities with the expectation of name and fame. St. Paul in his letter to Colossians tells “whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord not for others” (Col.3:23). St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of Society of Jesus (Jesuits) chose the motto for his society of Jesus is ‘for the greater glory of God’. Thus, he placed God first. Let us deeply inspect our own conscience:

1. Do I do my responsibilities sincerely and properly?

2. Do I do my responsibilities for the glory of God or for own glory?

Prayer: Glorious God, I thank you for all your loving care and concern for me and my fellow human beings. I feel sorry for not doing my duties and responsibilities sincerely. Shower your grace on me and all fellow human beings to do our responsibilities sincerely but at the same time for the greater glory of your name. We ask this in the name of your beloved son and our savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

BASIC CHRISTIAN COMMUNITYWe have started a new program, namely “Basic Christian Community” (BCC) in our Parish. Basic Christian Community is the life style of early Christians. Few families gather at a home and they pray and reflect over the Word of God. It will enrich our lives and provide a good opportunity to pray for others. THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of Amercia

When in the cource of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness – that to secure the rights, Govenments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. - That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safetyand Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Govenrment, and to provide new Guards for their future security. – Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world. We, therefore, the Representives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name and declare that these united colonies are and of Right ought to be free and independent States they they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown and all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain be totally dissolved, by authority of the good People of these Colonies.

July 2 – Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time The story of Elisha, in today’s first reading, is a reminder of the importance of hospitality. Hospitality involves openness to what friends and strangers bring to us It implies attentiveness to the other and the needs of the other. As we consider the ministry of Hospitality, we are called to heighten our awareness of others so that we can carry on the ministry of Jesus. Is there a stranger or newcomer at Mass this weekend? Is the hospitality we offer a means of service to others and to Christ in them?
