WEEKLY READINGS
Meditations . . .
“The Lord . . . proclaimed his name.” (Exodus 34:5) Have you ever wondered why the Church chooses
some readings for its special feast days? Take today’s
feast, for example. It’s dedicated to the Holy Trinity, but
nowhere in these readings do we have a clear spelling
out of this crucial doctrine of our faith. In the first reading, for instance, Moses actually gets to
see God and hear him proclaim his name: Yahweh. He
also learns who this God is: “a merciful and gracious
God, slow to anger and rich in kindness” (Exodus 34:6).
Beautiful truths, but nothing about the Trinity. Granted, the three Persons of the Trinity do appear in
the second reading, but only in the form of a final bless-
ing from the apostle Paul. And the focus seems to be on
grace, love, and fellowship more than on the truths of
three divine Persons in one God. Then in today’s Gospel, the apostle John tells us about
the way God loves his people—through humility, sacri-
fice, and self-giving. He tells us of a God who “did not
send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but
that the world might be saved through him” (John 3:17). So why do we have these readings for this feast? Be-
cause at the heart of today’s feast is not a solution to a
mathematical puzzle of how God could be three in one.
Rather, it’s a divine mystery, that our God, who is a
Trinity of divine Persons, loves us and longs to reveal
himself to us. It’s the promise that his revelation has the
power to melt our hearts and heal our souls. A God of mercy and kindness. A God of constant
blessing. A God who saves and doesn’t condemn. These
are the Trinitarian truths he wants to reveal to you on
this marvelous feast day. These are truths that can be-
come the foundation for every aspect of your life. Let
him proclaim his name to you.
“Lord, help me to live every day in the name of the Fa-
ther, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

WEEKEND MASSES RESUME NEXT WEEK-END & PROCEDURES: As we slowly start our reopening process next weekend, June 13-14, 2020, we are reminded of a few very necessary practices that we are re-quired to do beforehand. Those involved with the Ministries (Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Choir) will receive instructions as to how to carry out these practices during each Mass. 1) Please read the Sign posted in the Vestibule
and Sacristy of the best hygiene practices (hand-washing, face covering, respiratory eti-quette, refraining from shaking hands, and so-cial distance).
2) Each person (children, included) is required to wear a facemask for those times during Mass when you do not need your face covered (Communion, choir, lector, etc.). Face masks will be required before entering the Church. A few masks will be available for those who do not have one. BUT! You will be required to bring your own mask, thereafter. If you have one already, PLEASE bring it with you.
3) Before entering the church, please use the Disinfecting lotion that lectors will be providing in the Vestibule.
4) Staff, volunteers, ministries members will be checked with a non-contact infrared ther-mometer to confirm no sign of fever (for possi-ble COVID-19 infection).
5) Volunteers will be assigned the duty of clean-ing the pews, doorknobs, doors, bathrooms, hall doors, etc. with disinfection wipes after each Mass. In other words, any place that has been in contact with a person(s), must be dis-infected, promptly. Disposable gloves will be used and disposed as required.
6) Every other pew will be blocked off. You may sit with your family members, if group is not too large. Please respect these divided pews.
7) In lining up for Communion, you will be re-quired to stand on a marked area of the aisle. Proceed as the person in front moves forward.
As we learn what works best for our Parish, we will add or change procedures, as needed. With everyone’s cooperation, we will make this process as easy as possible.

DIOCESAN UPDATE (UPDATE - June 7, 2020): The supplies required by the Bishop have now been
received. The Bishop has been notified and we are
waiting for his response and approval to reopen. It is
our plan to open next weekend, June 13-14, 2020, at
the usual times. NOTE: In preparation for when we
will reopen, we are asking that each parishioner
please bring their own face mask and practice so-
cial-distancing for everyone’s welfare. Families will
be able to sit together, unless they are too large a
group—extra members will be seated in a separate
pew. Read detailed instructions in previous section.
We thank you for your full cooperation. FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: The church’s office will be open at the usual days and hours, henceforth. The west-side door of the church will be open only for individual prayer (no large groups, please!)
NOTE: This will be the last week (Tuesday
through Friday, June 9-12) that Weekly donations
may be mailed or brought to the Parish Office for
the weekend of June 6-7. During this difficult time, we realize how hard-pressed many are to continue
their normal lifestyle. With that in mind, we too, as a
parish community are facing the same situation—
how to pay our bills, which continue regardless of our
financial status. If you find it within your means to
make your regular donations to the parish, it will cer-
tainly help with our existing obligations (utilities, etc.).
Those who have continued to help with their dona-
tions, we thank you and truly appreciate your efforts.
May God always bless you and give you an abun-
dance in return.
