WEEKLY READINGS
Meditations . . . “We are not debtors to the flesh.” (Romans 8:12)
Whether it’s a mortgage, a loan from a family member,
credit cards, or something else, most of us have some
experience of being debtors. We feel the burden of
knowing our creditors have some degree of power over
us. At times it can feel like having a heavy yoke tied to
our shoulders. We also know how freeing it is to be re-
leased from a debt. Making that final payment feels so
good that we just want to celebrate! In today’s second reading, St. Paul uses this image of
indebtedness to encourage us: “We are not debtors to the
flesh” (Romans 8:12). The flesh—that part of you that is
attracted to sin—has no more power over you. Because
you have been baptized into Jesus’ death and resurrec-
tion, you have died and risen with him. You have died to
sin and no longer owe it any allegiance. Raised up with
Christ, you now have a way out when temptation arises. Think how wonderful it feels to walk through a temp-
tation and come out on the other side unharmed. Or think
about how comforting it is to know that you don’t have
to be bound by guilt or destined to repeat your past sins. Of course, this is easier said than done. We know how
strong our fallen desires can be, especially when it
comes to habitual sins that have woven their way into
our lives. But Paul is announcing a truth that can sustain
us if we should fall into sin, just as it can inspire us in
the midst of temptation. So if you lose a battle here or there, you can pray,
“Lord, you know how weak I am, but I believe that this
sin does not define me. Thank you, Jesus, for abolishing
my debt to the flesh!” Jesus has broken the yoke of sin. So take up his
yoke—the yoke of faith and trust—and let him give you
rest (Matthew 11:29). Let his good news wash over you
today: you are not bound to sin. You don’t owe it any-
thing!
“All praise to you, Jesus, for setting me free from the
flesh!”

MINISTRIES MONTHLY SCHEDULE SUS-PENDED TEMPORARILY: Due to this pandemic, a number of our ministers for Lectors, Eucharistic Minister, Ushers and Altar Servers, are not attending Mass. Although, Mass attendance was not an option during the early weeks of the pandemic, Parishes throughout the Diocese have resumed with the necessary re-quirements being complied with. We encourage those who serve in a ministry, to please make an effort to attend Mass in your local parish. Watch-ing programmed Masses on video or TV is an op-tion for those whose health is compromised due to age or other health issues. If you serve in a minis-try, please reach out to the ministry head for your ministry to volunteer to do your part during these challenging times. We thank you for your dedica-tion to your Parish. God bless you! WEEKEND MASSES PROCEDURES: As we slowly start our reopening process, we are reminded of a few very necessary practices that we are required to do beforehand. Those involved with the Ministries (Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ush-ers, Choir) have received instructions as to how to carry out these practices during each Mass. 1) Before entering the church, please use the
Disinfecting lotion that lectors will be providing in the Vestibule.
2) Staff, volunteers, ministries members will be checked with a non-contact infrared ther-mometer to confirm no sign of fever (for possi-ble COVID-19 infection).
As we learn what works best for our Parish, we will add or change procedures, as needed. With everyone’s cooperation, we will make this process as easy as possible. MISSALETTES AVAILABLE IN PARISH OFFICE: If you wish to have a missalette for your use dur-ing Masses, please come by the parish office dur-ing office days/hours to pick one up. These will remain YOURS to keep, so please bring them with you for Masses. Write your name on the Mis-salette and make certain that you take it back with you. It will remain yours thereafter. If you leave it in the pew, it will be thrown away, asap. You may only have one, per household.

CHURCH ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Now that we are able to participate in Masses, we have a few necessary requirements for us to comply with, as per instructions from the Diocese. Please read the article in the previous column for other de-tails. In particular we will restrict entering and exiting from the East and West side doors, with the excep-tion of the West side (ramp side) door, which will be used exclusively only by those with a handicap, walker, cane, or wheelchair (their caregiver and or fam-ily, if needed, may also accompany them). Signs are posted to indicate as such. The main entrance doors will be the only passage available to all other parishioners. The aisle floor is marked (blue tape) to indicate where you can stand while waiting to receive Holy Communion. As well, as the pews which are sepa-rated by a cord—every other pew. Families may sit together, but otherwise, please try to maintain the 6 foot distance required. Please wear your face mask at all times, until you receive Communion (receive in hand, only), then replace mask. Families who utilize the Cry Room, must also limit the number - prefera-bly the mother and child, only—other members should sit in the main church area. SUNDAY BULLETIN ADS: Please contact Peggy Hensley at (325) 348-3802 or the Parish Office if you wish to continue, edit or re-move your bulletin ad(s) for the next 6 month cycle (July 1, 2020-December 31, 2020). Cost remains the same, $15 per square. WEEKLY DONATIONS TO THE CHURCH: Your weekly donations are to be placed in a bas-ket held by an Usher at the end of Mass, as you exit. Please bear with us, as we work out any problems that might occur. We are doing our best, too. We will get through this with God’s help. God bless you all!
