Vol. XXXIX, No. 2Dear Friends,
Paul» the apostle, saw a vision of the man from Macedonia inviting him to"Come over." Our call to serve in Ohiba Prefecture came from living people. Some of the forty or more contacts we have there invited us to "Come here."Even before that the Sannobara Church had written us into their budget givingus freedom to decide where we would go. Since the Machida property will be going through big changes in the next few years, it seemed wise for us to be inthe Metropolitan Tokyo area. Everything pointed to Chiba as God's will.
Do pray that He will lead us to Ca) the specific community and [b) to ausable property. We have contacts with real estate agents and they know gener-
"the kind of place we are looking for. By the way, years ago when our son,Mark, was looking for rental property it was not uncommon to have landlords say,"We don't want dogs or foreigners". This time several of the advertisementscame to us with the words written in, "Dogs or foreigners OKEY".
As this letter is being prepared, we are in process of ordering tickets. They will be for September 7, 1994 from Cincinnati to NarTta [Tokyo).
j-s Pratt , Mark and Lynn's daughter, will graduate from the CincinnatiBible College with the degree Associate of Arts, Church Musi c , Saturday, May 14,j^994. Her flight will leave from Dayton, Ohio on June 9, 1994. She will go ̂serve with the Tim Turners at Machida for one year. The C.J.C.M. trustees havewritten Karis into their budget in the amount of $1,000 a month. Please sendKaris off with your prayers and uphold her while she is there.
M££. Amy Grace Keffer was known at Paul's home church in Vanderbilt, Pa,as a friend of Central Japan Christian Mission. So following her death onMarch 8, 1994 her friends presented a Memorial Gift to the Mission in her honor.
The Chiba group that came out in the snow
Bob Wittenmyer , who has served
as C.J.C.M. 's Execut i v e Oi rector for
nine years has resigned for personalreasons. All his services have been
greatly appreciated. Bob teaches theadult class at Garfield Christian
Church in Indianapolis. Rick Coy 1e ,an elder at Highview Christian Church
in Cincinnati. was chosen to succeedhim.
Speaking of Mission trustees,
Harold Akers , an elder at the Misha-
waka Church suffered a heart attack
in January and was hospitalized fora week. He has recovered well for
which we thank God. He has served
as our P . R.Man since 1976, and isalso a trustee. He has resigned
his duties as elder in an effort to
lighten his load.
Some of our Friends have been confusedabout our several addresses. Churches and in-dividuals are urged to send contributions ̂ o
the Carmel , in address listed above. The offi
cial Mission Address is 7147 Sea Pine Drive,Indianapo1is, IN where Mrs. Bauer lives. We
stay there at times, but in order to be near
our family Kathleen and _I have an apartmentin Cincinnati . The return address omthe backof this letter is that of Mrs. Carol Kirk, who maintains our address list and sends out
this letter to individuals. Blessed, aren't we?
In our last letter we told you aboutzumi Koyama and Tomoe Fukuhara who were seek
ing the Lord. They were both baptized onSunday morning, March 6th. We are hopingthis will be a 'shot-in-the-arm' for Sanno-
bara's struggling youth group. Pray that thechurch there will all serve together in loveand unity and that all may have a vision toreach out to save the lost.
Erika, 'Mama* S KeitoStill another has been added to the' cra
dle roll at Sannobara. He is Keito (meaning 'blessed man') and was born to thepreacher and his wife. We pray that he will also b_B a blessing.
Tim and Lisa Turner, too, are expecting their third child in early July.Pray for them at this important time. Bill and Betty Turner are now in Japan. We hear that Dan and Carol Spencer, too, will be on standby for a flight inorder to get a glimpse of the (boy?).They are the grandparents.
Our present needs;
Prayers for guidance in finding God's choice for our place to serve.Prayers for Karis and for the Lord 'to send other 1 aborers into the harvest. Our airline tickets will cost $1,888.We still lack $614 of monthly support.
Andrew Murray reminds us to"be strong in the Lord, and in the power of hismight.* To have His power I must have himself. The strength is His and continues His; the weakness continues mine. He, the strong, works in me, the weak;I, the weak, abide by faith in Him, the strong. And I, in the self-same momentknow myself to be weak and strong.*' >
In His strength, ^
