Days of Prayer & Praise DEVOTIONAL Mon 11th, Tues 12th, Wed 13th October, 7 - 8pm Day 1: Plenty – More Than Enough Day 2: Wondrous Works Day 3: Not Ashamed DAY 3 NOT ASHAMED Praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you Joel 2:26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. Because the Lord is good and deals with us so graciously, always having our best in mind, we can count on good days ahead. He is our Father and brings plenty, bountiful blessings to our lives. We have all seen how He works wondrous things that we couldn’t have imagined or prepared for, yet He brings them about. It is marvellous to see Him provide and turn things for good - bringing harvest even in times of difficulty. God promises that His people will never be put to shame. Whatever we have been through or whatever lies ahead, we can rest in His care. He is our security. Whatever isn’t right yet, He will make right, make beautiful. It might take some time. We just wait in faith and actively trust in Him. God multiplies when He restores. He is unbelievably generous. He causes things to be better than before. What a confidence…what hope we have! Think about it… “The Biblical Definition of Restoration (Job 42:10–12) According to the dictionary, “to restore” means to “bring back to a former or original condition.” When something is restored in the Scriptures, however, it is always increased, multiplied, or improved so that its latter state is significantly better than its original state (see Joel 2:21–26).” (The Holy Spirit and Restoration, by James Robison) Is God doing a work of restoration in your life? Did God restore Job’s losses? Will He do the same for you? What does it mean to you in Joel 2:26 when it says, “My people shall never be put to shame?” SUPPORTING VERSES Isaiah 50:7 (NKJV) For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed. Romans 9:33 (AMPC) As it is written, Behold I am laying in Zion a Stone that will make men stumble, a Rock that will make them fall; but he who believes in Him [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] shall not be put to shame nor be disappointed in his expectations. Job 42:10-12 (NKJV) And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold. Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning... PRAYER POINTS • Come before the Lord with a grateful heart of thanks and praise. • Meditate on and remember the joy of your salvation. • Pray about God’s restoring work in your life. • Close with thanksgiving….trusting God to wondrously work His will in your life and in the lives of those you love. At this time of year, we celebrate and rejoice in God who is the Lord of the harvest. It has been a year like no other. The Lord God has brought us through. He has kept us and upheld us. He has been, and is our Rock, our Shelter and our Saviour. Shall we remember and give thanks for His bountiful supply? He has provided in every need – more than enough. We have all experienced the plentiful and abundant supply of God’s love and care. Our hearts are full of thanks and praise!

PLENTY meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary - Plenty, abundance, profusion refers to a large quantity or supply. Plenty suggests a supply that is fully adequate to any demands.

What does it mean to you in Joel 2:26 when it says, “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied?” What has the Lord done for you this year?

In the scriptures we read of the wondrous works of God. Throughout the ages, the people of God have been encouraged to recount and celebrate His marvellous works to mankind. During this time of year, at harvest, we want to take opportunity to remember and look back at what God has done. How He not only led us and sustained us, but by His wondrous power, accomplished great works of grace, mercy and deliverance in our lives. Let’s enjoy and celebrate His wondrous works…be glad, shout for joy and sing!
