PRACTICE TEACHING COURSEPRELIMINARY PROGRAMME

OverviewHead and neck cancer treatment requires multidisciplinarycooperation between surgical, medical and radiation oncologists.Little doubts exist on the relevance of establishing an effectivemultidisciplinary team to enable timely and appropriate evidence-based management of head and neck cancer. The management ofthese cancers continues to rapidly evolve and there is a substantialneed for updated information regarding the results of clinical trials,emerging treatment strategies and management of toxicities. Thisactivity will offer to practitioners involved in the care of head and neckcancer patients the opportunity to critically review the key advances inthe management and to experience the multidisciplinary interactionbetween different specialties. In the spirit of a multidisciplinarycooperation, specialists from varied disciplines will have the chance tointerchange their professional experiences being involved in activitiescovering cross-disciplinary subjects in order to improve the patient’soutcome.

Learning objectivesBy attending this course, participants will be able to:

• Summarize current guidelines and future trends in themanagement of head and neck cancers

• Apply the methodology for an integrated multidisciplinarymanagement of head and neck cancers

• Recognize the benefits of the multidisciplinary team approach totailor treatment plans to individual patients

Target audienceThis course is meant for specialists with an experience in themanagement of head and neck cancer patients, including surgical,medical and radiation oncologists.
