Most relevant points of each of the four key components
➔ TECHNICAL:
Passing & receiving: Passing the ball on the ground with pace from different distances and receiving the ball while keeping itmoving will be encouraged in all age groups.
Shooting Players must develop the ability to shoot from different distances. All players will be encouraged to shootfrom any distance during the game.
Ball control and turning Players will be encouraged to keep close control of the ball and use different turning techniques to moveaway from the defender.
➔ TACTI CAL:
Playing out from the back All teams must feel comfortable playing the ball from the back through the midfield and from there to thefinal quarter of the field.
Possession & transition All teams must try to keep possession of the ball playing a one-two touch game. Players will be encouragedto support and move, thus creating passing options. Once the possession game is consolidated theteam must learn how to transfer the ball in the most efficient way from one area of the field to another.
Offense-defense quick transition & vice versa When possession is lost, players must react quickly and apply pressure to regain the ball. Once possessionis regained, players will be positioned immediately to counter-attack.
➔ PHYSICAL
Speed & agility These qualities will be evident in the game from the early ages.
Endurance Individual players and teams will train to be resilient to high-intensity action .
Strength & power Strong players develop their speed more quickly, prevent injuries and are more competitive in games.
➔ PSYCHOSOCIAL
Respect & discipline Players will adapt to a role on the team and respect teammates, coaches, referees and opponents.
Cooperation Each player will be part of a unit, and will cooperate with teammates to achieve the objectives for a giventask, session or game, as well as for the entire season.
Competitiveness Competitive players will be rewarded for their effort and focus.

All Coaches and helpers at Skerries Town FC , should be well prepared for the training session :
1) Make sure all the training equipment are in good shape (ball -cones – etc....)
2) Make sure there is enough ball for practices and the correct air .
3) Make sure the training area is safe .
4) 85% of the training should have have the ball in action
5) Under any circumstance kids should not be asked to do laps around the pitch
6) all group ages follow the same principles in the 4 different phases of the game:
-Offensive Organization
-Defensive organization
-Transition from Defense to Offense
-Transition from Offense to Defense
7) The physical, technical, tactical and psychological elements are never worked on a separate
way. Everything is included while the main concern of every exercise is to organize the team for
one of the four moments of the game. This way of working trains the team to react
automatically to every moment of the game.

Technical Objective : Introduce the technical aspect of the game to the kids after they come from the Academy where they
spent 9 months playing football in fun environment ,at this age the emphasis will be in improving the
technical ability trough specific training program week in week out .
The focus will be mainly on this contents :
• Playing the ball : its a technique performed by the players when they controlling and directing
the ball along the ground .
• Passing : its a technique that establishes the relationship between tow or more players of the
team by striking the ball to transfer it to anther team mate
• Control : its a technique on how the player obtain the ball in great command that he can use it
immediately .
• Dribbling : its a skill that involve advance with the ball while maintaining possession and
getting past opponents .
• Shooting : its a technique of striking the ball .
Technical Contents :1. Playing the ball Main Exercise:
• turning with ball by changing direction with 1 or 2 touches and can be with inside or outside of the foot
• Protecting the ball by using the arm nearest the defender .
• Surface of contact is part of the foot that we pass the ball with
• Right distance between the ball and the foot used to play it the closer is the better at the same time is the
distance that allow the player to change direction or make a pass .
Under 9-10-11Under 9-10-11
2.Passing the ball main exercise
Passing is one of the most important techniques in football , working in this aspect of the development of football
players at early age is a must .
When we are woking on passing at this age we must be focusing on :
1- Position of the supporting foot as the one that will determines the direction and the speed of the pass .
The tip of the of the supporting foot is directed where we want the ball to go . And so the distance at we place the
foot at the moment we have impact with the ball will depend on the type of pass , the long pass the foot should be
further away from the ball , and short pass closer to the ball .
2- Vision and that is the capacity of the player to decide which passing option for each situation , so it means before
the player make a pass he should have a great vision on the field (scanning) so to pick the best passing option .
3 – Surfaces of contact means the part of foot the player uses to pass the ball .
-Short pass inside of the foot
-long pass instep
Under 9-10-11Under 9-10-11
3-Dribbling the main exercise
Skill that involves advancing with the ball and maintaining possession of it and getting past opponents , at the right
time and place .
.
when : ➔ On every occasion you have 1 on 1 and this
mosltly happnes on the wing
➔ When the team is in attacking phase.
➔ In the final attcking 3.
➔ When you have no chance of a pass / shoot .
When do we not use dribbling :
➔ if there is a pass availble
➔ inside our own area mainly in defensive
pahase
➔ on fast counter-attack
Encourage the players to use thier skill whenever they are in situation that allowes dribbling from
Physical feint to step over , cruyff turn etc......

RONDO TRAINING FOR U9 TO18 RONDO TRAINING FOR U9 TO18
Rondo is a training game in which the group who is possession has a numerical advantage. Rondo can
be as little as 3 v 1 to 10 v 2 over another group of players. The objective of the group in possession is
to keep the ball away from the defenders, while the defenders objective is to win the ball.
Rondo is different than other possession drills because the players take up a pre-set space in the circle
rather than roaming all over. Many possession drills will have players move to spaces that relate more
to the movements of a regular game. However, some of the rondo variations do involve movements
out of the pre-set typical rondo spaces.
Rondos develop players in the following ways:
● Decision Making & Number of Touches
● Technique, Mobility & Agility
● Teamwork and Collective Understanding
● Problem Solving & Creativity
● Competition
Key Points:
1. Stay on the balls of your feet with an open stance ready to receive the ball from any side or forward direction and pass theball to any side or forward option (forward angle passes as well).
2. Always be focused and mentally into the game. Try to get into a high-level zone of performance and concentration.
3. Try to think one or two steps ahead of the play. Speed of thought equals speed of play.
4. Have fun and bring energy to the group. There is nothing wrong with having tons of fun if the
training is of the highest quality.
5. Let your teammates know when they did well or when they need to pick it up. Clap and shout
to celebrate the great passes and defensive plays! Teams that demand a high level of
performance from each player get better faster.
6. Speed of play, creativity, teamwork, sound technique and problem solving are all very
important.
7. The importance of keeping possession as an individual and team is the primary objective but
look for Third Line Splitting Passes when they present themselves. Forward passing is what
scores goals and those opportunities need to be taken when they are available.
8. Establish a rhythm to the passing. The tempo of play and rhythm is critical for success.

Principles of Defense :
➔ Pressure : immediate pressure on the man on ball
➔ Delay : as mush as possible (get Goal side )
➔ Depth : Cover
➔ Balance : Get ball side
➔ Compactness : Concentration
Defending work should start at an early stage , from the U9 training
on individual defending is a must , it can be done in many format
starting with 1v1 , 2v2 ...etc while you are working and the principles
of defending .
Defending work can be divided to tow set of training , the first one
can be on individual and pairs while the second part will be on units ,
either the back 3 or back 4 , in those training the gaol keeper must be
involved .
