One should exploit on maximizing his strengths more than focusing on improving his weaknesses. Instead of seeing what one cannot do, it is more progressive to see what he can. Handicapped, or "special" people, are those people who apparently have lesser capabilities and less fortunate as can be compared to the standards of the society. Nonetheless, they have extremes in their abilities that a normal human being or citizen is capable of. What society might not be aware of them is that they tend to excel more in certain fields. All they need is some kind of motivation - some kind of emotional upliftment and societal recognition to their worths. Best kinds of examples are paralympics.  In the eyes of faith, one should emphasize the goodness in every human being. And in such instance, the human dignity is upheld. Since in the eyes of the Catholic faith, they are all created in the Image and Likeness of God, it is essential to recognize the efforts, talents, and individuality of the handicapped.
