Practical Tips For Your Driving Test
Taking your driving test can often be a stressful ordeal, so here are some helpful hints tips and
advice to help you on your way to getting your driver’s license.
The first and most obvious thing is to make sure your provisional licence is still valid and also make
sure you bring it along with youth centre on the day too. The instructors will double-check that your
license is still valid and if there is anything wrong, you will not be able to take the test.
Listen carefully to what your instructor has to say:
When you’re sat in the car with instructor, ready to take your test it is very important to listen to
what he or she says. I find some people are unnecessarily nervous, and often do not pay attention to
their instructors. Just remember that they are advising you for good reason and that they set the
rules so pay attention!
So when you get into the vehicle and put on your seatbelt remember to check the following; if it is
raining then make sure you engage your lights and your windscreen wipers as you will be breaking
the law otherwise. You do not check this and there is a very good chance you could felt driving test.
Be patient!
Again, this ties in with listening to your driving instructor. Don’t be tempted to drive off before he or
she gives you the go-ahead as they are the one testing you.
Things to check before driving off:
The first thing you should check your wing mirror, your rear-view mirror and most importantly your
blind spot. Nothing is coming and the driver has given you the go-ahead then you start to pull away.
If there is traffic coming in the opposite direction and you just patiently wait, do not start to panic
just go at your own pace. So to recap you check your mirrors, your blind spot and engage your
indicators before pulling away after checking it is safe to do so.
Turning:
In my opinion turning is one of the most important aspects of a driving test. This is because it shows
you have complete control of the car your indicators and the perception of other road users. If you
can’t even get a basic turn right then what hope do you have a passing driving test and keep control
of the car?
These are the very basics, your driving instructor will prepare you mentally as best he can do for
your test so try not to worry too much to bear this in mind. If you have any tips or suggestions for
passing your driving test please feel free to leave them in the comments.
