Details of diving activities planned

1. Collection of Mantis Shrimps for filming the following day

Hazards identified, risks arising and preventative action

1. Normal risks associated with SCUBA including drowning, decompression sickness, dehydration, burst lung, hypothermia.

All of the support dive team are very experienced and will take all appropriate precautions needed to prevent any of these dive related incidents from occurring. There will be diver-medics on board

plus oxygen with attendant O2 providers. The depth and time for the planned dives would make the incidence of decompression sickness negligible.

2. Shrimps have barbed claws, risk of cuts or grazes

Divers collecting the shrimps will wear gloves with appropriate thickness. Shrimps will be collected in jars directly from the burrows.

The diving will be carried out under the Scientific ACOP

To search for Mantis Shrimp Rissoides desmerestiIn Tremadog Bay. The U-shaped burrows will be located and 3 – 5 will be dug to collect the shrimp living inside.

A series of dives will be undertaken with appropriate timings until either 3 shrimps are collected or time and conditions dictate an end to the diving day.
