A HOUSE FOR MOLLY By Pat James

Covid 19 has brought a lot of changes to our lives and introduced us to a host of words and phrases not previously used in our everyday vocabulary. Pandemic, coronavirus, social distancing and shelter-in-place are now catch phrases and words used in our daily speak. One couple in our club, Pat & Cindy James, took one such phrase, “shelter-in-place”, to a literal level. With the extra time at home, they decided to take their back yard garden shed, spin it ninety degrees, add a six-foot extension and new door to make a new home for Ms. Molly - their newly acquired 1931 Model A Ford.

Recently completed with the installation of a blue door (which matches Ms. Molly) they held an impromptu ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 11, 2020, to mark the occasion and welcome Ms. Molly to her new house. Once our coronavirus blues are over, look for Pat and Cindy to introduce Ms. Molly to club members on future tours and events. Using a well known catch phrase from a song by Little Richard, club members may want to exclaim: “Good Golly It’s Ms. Molly” when they see her coming!

The Cracked Head

Hello All;The HEAT is here. Driving a model A in the afternoon is going to be a challenge. I find it exciting to find a driving style that keeps the water in the radiator. Using the lowest amount of throttle to still get you there the fastest. Find the “best” spark setting. Do some experimenting with the controls. Just don’t be in a hurry if the engine gets hot. Keep the car moving with the fan spinning fairly fast. Then let the radiator do it’s work. I would love to hear your “HOT” stories. Hopefully the successes also. The virus has killed the balloon fiesta. I fear the state fair is next. Lets plan some club picnics. Short drives. Any ideas?Have fun, stay cool.John G.

Peter Hobart 1930 Fordor Model A Car For Sale $13,900.00

I purchased it in 2000. It had been restored in 1998 and 1999. I have receipts from the restoration also with new interior. From what I can see is that the car was originally purchased in Trinidad, Co. I bought the car as I grew up always wanting a Model A as I collected Dycast cars growing up. My love of these older cars were more about the ambience as I have an old car garage that all my cars are stored and viewed. Since owning the car I’ve only driven 3 to 4 times a year, going to outings and for homecoming and prom pictures for my kids and their friends. It has been in a few weddings also. I still have a 1930 Model A Roadster and a 1949 Ford pickup which will keep me busy during retirement. Any questions please call me at 505-250-8790.

Thank you, Peter

PS: Send me questions, or experiences! There is no such thing as a stupid question, but it does depend on where you are in the country at the time as to the stupidity of the answer! PLease do not use phone number 505-836-3110. Call me at 440-1280.
