• Started in production on CNC machine
• Moved into supervisor position

• 15 CURRENTLY EMPLOYEES UNDER SHARON’S SUPERVISION
• SHARON HAS HAD AS MANY AS 30
• SHARON HAS HAD AS LITTLE AS 8
Type of Supervisor
• Democratic (maybe)
• Allows some decision making but some decisions are not always a simple vote.
• But not all because there are times when decisions are made when the team is not privy to some information.
IMPORTANT FUNCTION OF BEING A SUPERVISOR
• Insuring the safety of her team
• Motivating
• Coaching to insure the desire goals are achieved
WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING AND HOW LONG IS THE PROCESS OF NEW EMPLOYEES
• Depends on the job they are hired
• The training for an assembler is 2 weeks
• The training for an file/grind person is 1 week
• The training for NC operator is 1 month
HOW DO YOU MOTIVATE YOUR EMPLOYEES
• Including them in the process
• Allowing them some input to our direction
• Many ways to achieve a goal and as long as we achieve the goal, safely and in a timely manner we can approach if from the direction the team believes is best
DO YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO MOTIVATE YOUR EMPLOYEES
• No
• The employees have the same goals and desires that I have
• I keep them involved in the day to day operations
• I keep them informed of decisions that matter to them
DO YOU DELEGATE YOUR DUTIES TO YOUR EMPLOYES
• Yes, I believe allowing the team to participate in other activities increases their knowledge and motivation
• When I am on vacation, I delegate many if not most of my duties.
• Some I will not delegate such as: discipline, time clock duties, and anything involving confidential matters
HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH ABSENTEEISM
• I schedule as best as possible
• I cross train to do multiple tasks
• I make decisions on what jobs can wait until the next day
• I work the jobs in order of priority
TERMINATION OF AN EMPLOYE
• Each issue is different
• The approach is on a case by case bases
HOW DO YOU SCHEDULE JOBS
• Scheduling is done by Oracle
• A planner is assigned to my group
HOW ARE YOUR EMPLOYEES INFORMED OF WORK PLACE SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS
• Team meetings
• Bulletin boards
• Hand outs
• Pure safety training
• 2 minute training communications
DO YOU MAKE SURE ALL SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE FOLLOWED
• All safety rules are followed at all times

I like her style of supervising by which she allows her employees to participate in decision making
She encourages her employees to participate in the cross training to allow for delegation of duties
She motivation her employees by working with them to achieve a common goal

I have learned how to motivate employees and it is not difficult
There are different training time periods for different jobs
Most important function is the safety of the team
