  • Transformation of sentences mean changing the sentences into another form without changing the meaning. We can change sentences in various ways. ex- we can change assertive ,interrogative, imperative, optative and exclamatory sentence into different forms. we can change simple, complex and compound sentence and positive ,comparative and superlative into different forms also.

  • From affirmative to negativeBy using antonym-Ex-Man is mortal. (affirmative) Man is immortal. (negative) Animate subject with only or alone we use none but to form negative sentence.Ex-Only God can help us. None but God can help us.

  • Must ---we use cannot help or cannot but,Ex-We must yield to necessity.We cannot but yield to necessity.Notice that if we use cannot help then we have to use present participle form in negative sentences. Ex-You must obey your elders.You cannot help obeying your elders

  • a sentence start with every, to form negative--- the structure is There is no + the word after every +but+ the rest of the sentenceEX-Every mother loves her child.There is no mother but loves her child.

  • Always---we use never to form negativeEx-I shall always remember you.I shall never forget you.As soon as we have to start with no sooner. structure is-No sooner+ had +subject +past participle +rest of the clause +than+ principal clause

  • Ex-As soon as I reached the station the train left.No sooner had I reached the station than the train left.Superlative degreeto form negativeNo other + the next part of superlative +verb+ as+ positive form of superlative degree+ as +sub of sentence

  • Ex- She is the best girl in the class. No other girl in the class is as good as she.Positive degree-negative---2nd subject +verb+ not+ comparative of positive degreeEx-Jubayer is as strong as Arun.(affirmative) Arun is not stronger than Jubayer. (negative)

  • Tooto :: the structure is like this-Subject of the sentence +verb+ too will be changed by so +adjective +that +subject +cannot/couldn't +the next part of toEx-He is too weak to walk.He is so weak that he cannot walk.

  • From assertive to negativeTo make Assertive sentence into interrogative we have to make it negative interrogative Ex-He is a genius. Is he not a genius?Negative sentence-interrogative we have to make it affirmative

  • Ex-He is not an irresponsible boy. Is he an irresponsible boy? If there is no be verb or auxiliary verb in assertive sentence then we use DO/DOESNT /DIDNT noticing the tenseEx-Sakib plays cricket. Doesnt Sakib play cricket?

  • If in assertive sentence we have everyone/everybody then to make it interrogative we have to use the pronoun who and also we have to make it negativeEx-Everybody loves music. Who does not love music?

  • We can use who or anybody if we have nobody/no one /none as subjectEx-Nobody could ever count my sufferings for you. Who could ever count my sufferings for you?/ Could anybody ever count my sufferings for you?

  • Assertive to exclamatoryWe use what and howWhat +a/an +noun+ subject+ verb+ !Ex-It is a nice idea.What an idea it is! OR How +adjective+ subject +verb +!Ex-You are very fortunate/How fortunate you are!

  • Notice that before noun we use what and before adjective/verb we use how If wish is there in assertive sentences, we need if/had/would that Ex-I wish I had the wings of a bird. If I had the wings of a bird ! / Had I the wings of a bird !

  • If in assertive sentence we have rejoice or regret we can use hurrah or alas etcEx-We rejoice that we have won the match. Hurrah! We have won the match. Ex-I regret that he has failed. Alas! He has failed./ It is a matter of sorrow that he has failed.

  • Assertive to Imperative present form of Main verb of the sentence +the next part of verbEx- You should do the work. Do the work. If there is 1st or 3rd person in Assertive sentence then to make it imperative, structure is- Let +object form of subject +not (if there) + next part of verb

  • Ex-We should play football. Let us play football. Ex- He does not tell a lie. Let him not do the work.

  • Transform the following affirmative sentences into negative1 Everyone will realize that I am right.We all hate a liarShe is my friendHe is competent for the jobMy teacher declined the request

  • From negative to affirmativeMy friend did not live long.I shall never forget you.Nobody insulted me assertive to interrogativeHe is a great fool.He plays the piano.They will not help us .

  • Interrogative into assertiveIs she not a good home-maker?Can they ride this mountain?Who doesnt love ice-cream? Assertive to ExclamatoryIt is very awesome day.The robin sings very sweetly.It is an exciting match.

  • EXCLAMATORY INTO ASSERTIVEAlas I am undone!How fortunate my sister was!If I could be a child again! assertive to imperativeYou have to obey your parents.We need to help the poor.She is allowed to play tennis.
