TheAPMProjectProfessionalQualification2ndeditionseekstoassessyourskillandcapabilitytoperforminaspecificprojectenvironment.
Tomeettherequirementsoftheassessment,youshouldbeabletodrawonabroadrangeofknowledgeestablishedthroughexperienceandpersonaldevelopment.
Topicsinclude;governance,leadership,virtualteams,communication,conflict,teamdevelopment/management,engagementandinfluence.
Pleasetakethetimetoreadandunderstandtheseguidancenotes.Theyoutlinetheassessmentregulationsandwillhelpyouapplyforandtaketheassessment.

IfyouaretakingtheAPMProjectProfessionalQualificationthroughanAPMAccreditedProvider,theywilladviseyouofthedate,venue/onlineplatformandtimingoftheassessment.

AssessmentAdvice
Assessmentdetails
TherearethreeelementstotheAPMProjectProfessionalQualification,andthesearebasedonapre-seencasestudy.Theelementswilladdresstheassessmentcriteriadetailedinthesyllabus.
Scenarioassessment
Thescenarioassessmentisaroleplaysituation,withoneoftheassessorstakingonaspecificroleandthecandidatetakingontheroleofprojectmanager.Theassessmentisbasedonanewevent/informationwhichwillimpacttheprojectdetailedinthepre-seencasestudy.
Youwillhave10minutespreparationtimeand20minutesforthescenarioroleplay.
Eachscenarioassessmentwillalwayscoverthefollowingsyllabusarea:
■ Communicateeffectivelywithstakeholderstoachieveaproject’sobjectives
Andoneofthefollowing:
■ Negotiateeffectivelywithstakeholderstoachieveaproject’sobjectives
■ Resolveproblemstakingalogicalapproachtotheproblem-solvingprocess
■ Makedecisionswhichsupporttheobjectivesofaproject
Thescenarioisworth20marks.10marksfortheassessmentofeffectivecommunicationand10marksfortheassessmentofeitherproblemsolvingordecisionmakingornegotiation.
Oralexam
Theoralexamwillbeconductedbytwoassessorsandwilllast50minutes.
Allquestionswillneedtobeansweredasthoughyouweremanagingtheprojectdetailedinthepre-seencasestudy.
Theoralexamisworth40marks.Fourlearningoutcomesselectedacrossthethreeunitswillbeassessed.
Projectreport
Youwillneedtoproduceaprojectreportasdetailedinthequestionyouaregiven.Theprojectreportwillbebasedonthepre-seencasestudy.Youwillhaveonehourtoproducethereportonline;thiswillbeinvigilated,eitherbyatrainingproviderinaclassroomorremotely.
Theprojectreportisworth30marks.Onelearningoutcomeselectedacrossthethreeunitswillbeassessed.
Assessmentmaterials
Youwillbeallowedalightlyannotatedcopyofthepre-seencasestudywithyouateverystageoftheassessment.Noadditionalpre-preparednoteswillbeallowed.
Assessmentprocedure
Intotal,theassessmentofallelementswilllasttwohours20minutesandwilltakeplaceonthesameday.
Thescenarioassessmentandoralexamelementswillbeassessedbytwoassessorsandwillbecarried out consecutively. These assessments can either be carried out in a physical location or virtually, using video conferencing software.
Theprojectreportwillbecarriedoutasanonlinewrittenassessment.Thiscaneitherbeinvigilatedbyatrainingproviderorcanberemotelyinvigilated.

Duringtheassessment
■ Onlyleavetheroominanemergency,ifyouhavebeenexcusedordirectedtoleavebytheassessor/invigilator.
■ Conductyourselfinawaywhichwillmakeitpossiblefortheassessmenttobecarriedoutwithouthindranceorannoyancetotheothercandidatesortotheassessor/invigilator.
AssessmentRegulations
ThefollowingrulesonconductapplytostudentsattendinganAPMassessment:
■■ Youneedtoarriveattheassessmentvenue30minutespriortotheassessmentstarttime.Latearrivalswillnotbepermittedentryintotheassessmentroom.Ifyouareattendingtheassessmentvirtually,youwillneedtojointheassessmentatyourallocatedtimeslot.
■ Youwillberequiredtoprovidephotoevidenceofyouridentity.
■ Youarerequiredtocomplyinallrespectswithanyinstructionsissuedbytheassessors/invigilator(s)beforeandduringtheassessment.
■ Youarerequiredtocomplywiththerulingoftheassessors/invigilator(s).TheyareobligedtoreportanycasesofirregularityorimproperconducttoAPM.Theyarealsoempoweredtodiscontinueyourassessmentifyouaresuspectedofmisconductandtoexcludeyoufromtheexamroom.
■ Exceptforthecasestudy,youarenotpermittedtobringanywrittenorprintedmaterialintotheassessmentroom,suchasanybooks,bags,mobilephones,electroniccommunicationdevicesoranyitemwithsmarttechnologyfunctionality.
■ Ifyouareattendingaface-to-faceassessment,youarenotpermittedtoremoveeitheryourscenariooryouroralexamquestionpaperfromtheassessmentroom.
YourResults
Assessmentscores:
Thereare90marksavailableacrosstheassessment.Thepassmarkis60%oftheavailablemarksacrossallthreeelementsoftheassessment.*Toensureperformanceineachassessmentelement,candidatesmustscoreaminimummarkineachasfollows:
■ Scenario–10marks
■ Oralexam–20marks
■ Report–15marks
*ThismaybechangedontherecommendationoftheSeniorExaminerTeamduringthelifetimeofthequalification.
Borderlineresults
Ifyouroverallscoreisaborderlinefail(i.e.58%to59%),itwillautomaticallybere-markedbyanothermarker.
Notificationofresults(Pleasenote:APMcannotgiveresultsoverthetelephone)
Youwillbeadvisedofyourresultswithinamaximumof10weeksofcompletingtheassessment.Youwillbesentanemailconfirmingyourresult,withnotificationofyourfinalmarkandthescoreachievedforeachquestion.
Ifyouaresuccessful,youwillbesentaPDFcertificateandadigitalbadge.AccreditedProviderswillalsobenotifiedofresults.

AccessArrangements
Medicalandmobility
APMiscommittedtopromotingapositiveassessmentenvironmentforpeoplewithspecialeducationalneeds,disabilitiesortemporaryinjuries.Ithasagreatdealofexperienceinfacilitatingindividualrequirementsandtailoringadjustmentswiththeaimofremovinganyunfairdisadvantagethattheindividualmayencounterwithoutchangingthedemandsoftheassessment.
Accesstothefacilitiesorarrangementsdescribedherecanbegrantedtocandidateswitheithershorttermorlongtermconditions,specificlearningdifficulties,orregardedasdisabledintermsoftheEqualityAct2010.Adispensationmaybeallowedforamedicalorphysicalconditionthatpreventsyoufromcompletingtheassessmentwithinthenormalregulations.
AllrequestsmustbesupportedbyamedicalcertificateorotherrelevantmedicaldocumentationfromyourGPorotherappropriatemedicalprofessional.Thismustbestatedatthetimeofapplication.Allmedicalevidencemustbereceivedbymidday,atleast,fiveworkingdaysbeforetheassessment,failuretodosowillresultinthedispensationnotbeinggranted.
Extratime:Extratimeisavailableifyouhaveaspecificlearningdifficultysuchasdyslexiaoramedicalrequirement.Thenormaladditionaltimeis15minutesperhourofassessment.
Otheraids/equipmentavailable
LargeprintpapersmaybeproducedbypriorarrangementwiththeAPMQualificationsDepartment.Requestsforlargeprintpapersmustbereceivedbymiddayatleast10workingdaysbeforetheassessmentdate.
Youmaybringcushions,specialseatsandanyotherrestingaidsbypriorarrangementwiththeAPMQualificationsDepartment.
