Thanksgiving Wishes,

This is my favorite time of year, the hum of the school year settling into routine with opportunities to still be outdoors without boots and snowpants! The leaves are especially pretty on my street right now and looking at them as I drive to and from work each day provides refreshing reminders of the beauty in our world.

Classes are in full swing this fall; I hope you have had an opportunity to take advantage of

one. Conscious Discipline has been especially enjoyable with teachers, parents, and daycare

providers. We all have one thing in common - we will have greater success and satisfaction as

we work with children, if we can manage our own thoughts and emotions. Conscious

Discipline teaches adults to recognize patterns and traits. With that recognition comes the

opportunity to take an objective look at both our effective and our ineffective practices. One

thing all adults can do before entering into situations with children is to remember discipline

brings an opportunity to teach, while punishment expects a child to know and is often

received with fear. Adults can bring calm into any chaotic situation by first stepping back and

getting control of their own emotions. One way to do this is by taking a deep breath and

breathing—STAR!

Wishing you well,

Judith

Nurtured Heart Approach is a 5-week interactive series designed for all types of families, and works

especially well with challenging children. This series will help parents and caregivers to:

See children’s intensity as a gift rather than the enemy and help children see their intensity as an asset

and to use it in extraordinary ways.

Learn how to develop children’s inner strength that will create strong children on the inside better

equipped to handle stress and pressure from the outside.

Learn how to create first hand experiences that allow children to see themselves being successful, which

in turn, transforms the child’s prior negative self image.

Learn to add new dimension to the moment and to find success in what IS happening AND what IS NOT

happening. Thursday Evenings: 6:30—8:00 PM

(5 week series) October 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20, 2014
