W e are 25 days away from the most anticipated season premiere in recent memory, that of the sixth and final season of ABC’s ‘‘Lost.’’ Usually around this time of year, the ‘‘Lost’’ braintrust is pretty tight-lipped. But this week, they unveiled a teaser photo featuring the cast in a very intriguing pose. Call it ‘‘The ‘Lost’ Supper.’’ Has the concept been done before? Sure. (See: ‘‘The Sopranos,’’ ‘‘Battlestar Galactica,’’ ‘‘South Park’’) But this time around, the photo seems to hold ‘‘DaVinci Code’’- like clues to the drama’s final season. Here’s what I’ve found so far: First and most importantly is the placement of the Jesus figure. In this case, the role of savior will be played by John Locke. With last season’s revelation that Locke is not actually our Locke anymore, are we to believe that the mysterious character is still ‘‘he who shall save us all,’’ as Richard Alpert hinted? Next let’s look at some other intriguing poses. Sayid seems to taking the place of Judas in the photo. Will the former Iraqi soldier betray our Losties? And how about Claire, Aaron’s missing mom who seems to be giving Kate the evil eye. Could she want revenge on Kate for taking her son Aaron off the island? And finally, there’s Jack. For the purposes of this picture, our borderline alcoholic doctor will play St. Thomas the Doubter. Could any of these roles be more fitting than this one? But aside from intriguing poses, there might be a few other clues thrown in as well. For instance, what do we make of this scene taking place in front of what appears to be an entrance to the Swan station, the Dharma hangout that was obliterated in season three? Other curious notes: What do we make of the skull and lilies placed at the feet of Sayid and Hurley? Could this mean doom? The cast all seems to be wearing flat colors. What do we make of Sawyer’s flannel of many colors? If you want to investigate further, check out the full size image at go386.com/fanboy. PPP Here’s what else is happening this week: PPP ESPN is planning on becom- ing the first network to launch a 3-D network later this summer. The sports network’s parent company, Disney, announced this week that it will feature at least 85 different events in the first year starting June 11. It kicks off with the first 2010 World Cup match between South Africa and Mexico. ‘‘ESPN’s commitment to 3-D is a win for fans and our busi- ness partners,’’ said ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer. ‘‘ESPN 3D mar- ries great content with new technology to enhance the fan’s viewing experience and puts ESPN at the forefront of the next big advance for TV viewing.’’ PPP For those of you who still watch broadcast news, a famil- iar voice left CBS as of Monday: Walter Cronkite. You’d be correct to assume that Cronkite actually left (read: died) back in July, but his voice- over still kicked off ‘‘CBS Eve- ning News’’ every night. To replace him, they went with the most obvious choice: Morgan Freeman. PPP Have you seen James Camer- on’s ‘‘Avatar’’ yet? Me neither. But apparently everyone else has and now the film has be- come the second highest gross- ing film EVER. This week the film topped $1.1 billion worldwide. Yup, a billion. Even more amazing is the fact that it did so in just three weeks. To get there, the film had to jump over ‘‘Pirates of the Carib- bean: Dead Man’s Chest’’ and 2003’s ‘‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.’’ ‘‘Avatar’’ now trails only 1997’s ‘‘Titanic’’ ($1.84 billion). And who was the filthy rich gen- ius behind that film? You guessed it, James Cameron. It’s good to be the king. PPP Vanity Fair’s February cover story is on everybody’s favorite adulterer, Tiger Woods. The piece has some never-be- fore-seen photos and theorizes that Woods is a sex addict. Way to step out on a limb, Vanity Fair. [email protected] Accent writer Tom Iacuzio scours the pop culture universe for the latest in entertainment news.
