Enrolment method Email: Mr Kirk [email protected] Subject: TAG RUGBY
Does your child have an interest in tag rugby and would they like to improve their catching, passing and evasion/movement skills in a fun, enjoyable learning environment? There are a few misconceptions when it comes to tag rugby as it is a non contact sport. Having similar rules and principles to rug-by, the tackling aspect is totally different as a tackle in tag rugby is simply a player’s velcro tag being pulled. The tag rugby club is run by Mr Kirk and caters for children of all abilities. With structured tag rugby sessions / drills, your child will not only improve their rugby skills - working on reaction, evading and handling skills but will also feel part of a team. The children will receive medals and certificates for good performances, skills and good behaviour. If this club is of interest to your child, then please contact Mr Kirk on the above email address to reserve a place.

I am pleased to announce that the Sarah Hegarty Chess Organisation will continue
to run a chess club at Pownall Green School throughout 2018 2019. I (Glenn True-
man) will be responsible for matters on a week to week basis although Sarah will still
be actively involved. The main focus will be on getting pupils ready for the UK Chess
Challenge which will take place in the spring term.
For those of you who don’t know me I have been a strong chess player for many
years. I am currently President of the Stockport Chess League and play for Man-
chester in the Four Nations Chess League. Changes in my work commitments over
the last five years have given me more time for teaching young chess players, some-
thing I have always been passionate about. I teach chess at eight schools in the
North West and also at the Cheshire and Ashton Junior Clubs. I also coach on a one
to one basis. I firmly believe chess is a fun way to teach thinking skills, the skills that
turn people into high achievers. I also think it is the most beautiful thing the human
mind has ever created.
Lessons will cost £5 per session The club is open to all but will be limited to 16 plac-es. I welcome anyone who is keen to learn about chess and will work hard in order to reach their potential.
Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Glenn Trueman ([email protected])

The children are given the chance to find out more about food and where it comes from, as well as providing opportunities for them to gain the skills to cook and hopefully make better decisions about what they put on their plates when they grow up. They will go home with the dishes they have made during the session. Some of the foods cooked last term were: Apple and Raisin Flapjacks, soups, Fruit Crumble, Pizza Wheels, sweet and savoury muffins, Cheesy Creamy Pasta, Fish Fingers, Sweetie cookies………….
