Bus Bay drivers

Drivers of cars are requested to avoid using the bus bay for turning around and or dropping off students during the morning and afternoon when students are getting on and off buses.

Parents are also reminded that they should use the drop off zone prior to the bus bay and not park in front of the bus bay. Bus drivers have already commented on irresponsible driver behaviour that is endangering our children. This is an extremely hazardous area and though we have a senior teacher on duty in there it requires parents to do the right thing if we are to avoid a tragedy.

Library News We are very excited as we have just taken possession of our first mobile bookshelves for the Library. I know that sounds very uninspiring but this is the first step in realising a vision for the Golden Bay High School Library.

Imagine a big, light, open space full of books. Books not on six-foot-high shelves nailed to the wall but on shelving that moves and that you can display the books and truly see what there is to read.

Shelving which can create little rooms or can be moved back to create big, clear performing spaces. Shelves on which you can see the front cover of the book, not just the spine.

We are so fortunate to have many wonderful books for students to read but we need to display them well. So what might just look like a big piece of metal is really our first step towards creating a beautiful, friendly, community and school-friendly space.

One down, at least eight more to go.
