The worst PowerPoint slide ever made?:

This was voted the worst PowerPoint slide ever in a recent survey!

General Presentation Tips:

text size about 20 to 30 points

7 to 10 lines maximum per page

points should be short and concise

visible for about 1 to 2 mins on average

people cannot view, read, listen to you talk and process complex information at the same time

use animation sparingly

Eye contact can be powerful…………………………….Or quite intimidating…………

Blank the screen to white or black if you want full attention on your talk versus the slides.

Now, let’s practice. Read the next slide and format it to make it easier for the reader.

Make sure you know the content and organization very well. Practice is the only way to do this. Summary cards might help. Introduce yourself at the beginning. The audience wants to know something about you before you begin. Lay out the organization of the talk at the beginning. then follow it. Talk fairly loudly and not too quickly and don’t turn your back towards the audience. It is important to speak within the time limit. A big mistake presenters make is when they talk to the screen. Never read from the screen but do check that the correct slide is there. If you continue talking for a long time, you will lose the audience’s interest. Try and surprise the audience occasionally, it keeps them awake. One trick is to ask a question. Try and get some feedback or interaction with the audience, but don’t overdo it and make them be the main it is your presentation, not theirs.

CP24/CHUM Christmas Wish in Toronto and the Fire Fighters Toy Drive in Waterloo have become one of the last hopes for many to give a child a Christmas; The Daily Bread Food Bank of Toronto and The Food Bank of Waterloo Region supplying non-perishable food items to those who might go without a meal. With your help, we can help perform a Christmas Miracle with these organizations. Diagrams and images could be good (or not……)

Summaries are good

Always check the spelling
