Year 7 & 8The Year 7 & 8’s have a separate program to that of Year 9-13. There are 4 weekly competitions they may enter:
Netball North Harbour (Winter Terms 2 & 3)Basketball Leisure Centre (Registered termly)
Hockey (Winter Terms 2 & 3)
Year 7 & 8 also have Zone Days that run throughout the year termly, which correspond with the sports being played at that time of year:

For Summer Sports such as Twilight netball and Cricket you must enquire at the Sports Office
ZONE Days Year 7 & 8
• Zone Days are a one day inter-school competition• ‘ZONE’ is North Harbour - this includes all intermediate
schools from the Harbour Bridge to Warkworth.• Learners can express interest for as many zone days as they
wish, participation will be dependant upon numbers, trainings attended and trial.
• Each day entered will cost $15 per learner• Several weeks before the competition day learners will be
expected to attend regular trainings.• Parent help is appreciated – either as coach, manager, driver • Uniform will be either PE gear or provided Multi Purpose
Shirts(These Zone days are subject to change at any time dependant on numbers for teams
and volunteer help)

The WHANGA way – Fair Play Charter
We at Whangaparaoa College agree that when playing sport we will:
• Enjoy ourselves
• Play within the rules
• Respect the decisions of the referees and umpires
• Respect the opposition and their supporters
• Win with humility, lose with dignity
• Play hard but play fair
Players Code • Represent your school with pride
• Play in correct school playing uniform and safety equipment
• Show respect for the game
• Play hard, but within the rules of the game.
• Recognise and respect the abilities and disabilities of others –both team mates and opponents
• Accept the official’s decision without gesture or argument
• Win with humility, lose with dignity
• Support the coaches and the requests they make of you
• Show appreciation of the coach, officials, opponents and supporters
• Advise coaches/managers of unavailability, with as much advance warning as possible
• Attend all practices, games and meetings on time
Parents Code• Positively encourage and support the efforts of all players
• Make an effort to understand the rules of the game• Refrain from any criticism or abuse directed at officials or
opponents• Put an emphasis on genuine effort ahead of victory and encourage players to accept the outcomes of all games,
irrespective of the result• Recognise good play by either team
• Ensure full payment is made prior to play• Support learners participation, ensuring they meet the training
and playing schedules • Support by volunteering to help where possible – managing,
driving, fundraising etc• Abide by the principles of fair play

Netball- Players will be provided with a dress from the college that they will sign out and return at the end of the season.Basketball North Harbour- Players will be provided with a singlet which will be signed out and returned at the end of the season.Soccer- Players will be provided with a multi-purpose t-shirt that they will sign out and return at the end of the season (must buy own shorts and blue sports socks)Hockey/Lacrosse- Playing top provided (must buy own Skort Year 9-13, PE shorts Year 7/8, must buy own blue sport socks)Zone Day multi purpose shirts are given out for the day ONLY, learners must be wearing school PE shorts.
