Daniel 8:15-25 New King James Version (NKJV)Gabriel Interprets the Vision15 Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and wasseeking the meaning, that suddenly there stood before me onehaving the appearance of a man. 16 And I heard a man’s voicebetween the banks of the Ulai, who called, and said, “Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.” 17 So he came near where Istood, and when he came I was afraid and fell on my face; but hesaid to me, “Understand, son of man, that the vision refers to thetime of the end.”18 Now, as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep with myface to the ground; but he touched me, and stood me upright.19 And he said, “Look, I am making known to you what shallhappen in the latter time of the indignation; for at the appointedtime the end shall be. 20 The ram which you saw, having the twohorns—they are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the [a]malegoat is the [b]kingdom of Greece. The large horn that is between itseyes is the first king. Daniel Seventy Weeks CBF Bible Study 7

22 As for the broken horn and the four that stood up in its place, four kingdoms shall arise out of that nation, but not with its power.23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom,When the transgressors have reached their fullness,A king shall arise,Having fierce [c]features,Who understands sinister schemes.24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; He shall destroy [d]fearfully,And shall prosper and thrive; He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.25 “Through his cunningHe shall cause deceit to prosper under his [e]rule; And he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity. He shall even rise against the Prince of princes; But he shall be broken without human [f]means.

Do you believe that such a Goat and Ram really existed or in Chapter 7 , theLion with Eagle’s wings, four headed Leopard with wings and a beast with iron Teeth, exceedingly strong with ten horns?

This is what we call “ Figurative Language”.When an author wishes to portray characters or events in a hidden or symbolic way,He uses symbolic language.

Example of a Figurative Vison

Genesis 37:9-10“And he (Joseph) dreamed yet another dream (in other words he had a vision), and told it

his brethren, and said,‘Behold,I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun andthe moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.’ And he told it to his father, and tohis brethren: and his father (who understood the vision as figurative) rebuked him, andsaid unto him, ‘What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy motherand thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?’’

Joseph’s dream is obviously about Jacob and the children of Israel. So are there any prophetic visions in the bible that are not figurative?

The same Figurative language is used in RevelationsRevelations 12:1Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.

The Bible has only one Author!

Since the figurative language in Revelation is identical to thefigurative language in Genesis, who do you suppose Revelation12:1 is actually identifying?

Israel

Figurative language appears all over Revelation!

Rev 4:6 “And before the throne there was a sea of glass like crystal.

Rev 9:10 “And they had tails like scorpions.”Rev 11:1 “And there was given me a reed like a rod.”

Rev 13:11 “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like A lamb, and he spoke like a dragon

Rev16:13 “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth ofthe dragon,”

Rev 16:3 “Then the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea (people Rev. 17:15), and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.

Revelation has over 60 Figurative signposts.

Some of Revelation’s figurative language is defined for us in the book itself

Revelation1:20“The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands (candlesticks). The seven stars are the angels (messengers) of the seven churches: and the seven lampstands (candlesticks)which you saw are the seven churches.”

Revelation 11:3-4 “And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they willprophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two Lampstands (candlesticks) standing before the God of the earth.”

Revelation17:18 “And the woman whom you saw is hat great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.”.

We see this also in the book of Daniel, where the Angel provided interpretation to Daniel.

Day, Week and Year Principle

Where does this principle come from? It’s from the Bible !

Numbers 14:34, According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your [a]guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My [b]rejection.

Ezekiel 4:5, For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

It was 390 Hebrew years from the close of the Old Testament to the birth of Jesus.

Ezekiel 4:6, And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side; then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have laid on you a day for each year.

It was 40 years from the birth of Jesus to the crossDaniel Seventy Weeks CBF Bible Study

Hebrew year and Solar year

A day is equal to a year - A Hebrew Year is 360 Days

A Roman Year is 365, 24 Days

When Scripture uses “days” in a prophetic sense, they should be viewed as Hebrew or Solar years depending where they appear in the Bible.

Hebrew Year = For Old Testament prophecy only! Daniel used a Hebrewprophetic calendar of 360 days or 0,9857 of a Solar year.

From Torah, the Israelites understood a year to be 360 days, see Genesis 7:11,7:24 and 8:4.

Solar Year = For New Testament prophecy! John was raised under Romanrule and used the solar calendar ) 365.24 days.

Daniel’s Prayer for the People - 91 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the lineage ofthe Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans—2 in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books thenumber of the years specified by the word of the LORD throughJeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years inthe desolations of Jerusalem.3 Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayerand supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 4 And I prayedto the LORD my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, greatand awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with thosewho love Him, and with those who keep His commandments,
