“The RNs and Occupational Therapist working with us have far exceeded our expectations. We have experienced eyes to evaluate the need for DME. We have experts in psychiatric medication use and chronic medical conditions that have added value to our clinical base of knowledge. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire again from a pool of people interested in jobs outside the DC. The Community State Staff have not let us down.”August 2012, A Regional Center Registered Nurse
“Working with the Regional Center has provided me with satisfaction of knowing that Developmental Center consumers are continuing to get the best care. By remaining a state employee, I have also been able to accrue additional years to my years of state service that will benefit me when I retire. I have been very happy with my decision to become a Community State Staff employee.”

Testimonials
“ The contributions of state staff at Regional Center of East Bay and with our contracted residential providers in the East Bay Area have been invaluable. All community state staff provided our clients with continuity of care and support during a very stressful and difficult time in their lives – moving from developmental center to community homes. Staff from the Developmental Center are knowledgeable about each client’s needs and could anticipate their needs prior to their eventual placement, this was instrumental in each client’s successful transition from the closing DC to new residential community. We at RCEB are looking forward to hiring developmental staff in the future to assist us with transitioning clients from Sonoma DC to their new residential homes based in the East Bay community.”

Testimonials
The CSSP has benefitted me personally in a way that I was able to continue my state service employment. I was given the opportunity to continue applying my nursing skills, knowledge, and experience I acquired from Agnews which I believe is very beneficial to the same consumers we serve. Our community provider has benefitted from hiring state staff because we were a great toll in assisting Agnews consumers have a smooth transition to the community setting thus lessening transfer trauma and acute hospitalization incidents. I believe the parents of our consumers are happy, and confident knowing that their daughters/sons are safe because the staff who take care of them are familiar with their condition, needs and services. On behalf of OLYMPIAD Home, I can say that the parent are very content and proud that they place their daughter or son in a very clean and beautiful home. Additionally, with the support of management, great teamwork and good staffing ratios, our consumers were able to enjoy community integration in spite of their challenging medical needs as they were able to go to different places such as SF Ferry ride, CA Academy of Sciences, county fairs, and shopping malls. Our provider has also benefitted from CSS who became the mentors of privately hired staff.December 2015 RN House Manager, Olympiad Home, Union City, CA

Testimonials
“I am a Licensed Psych Tech House Manager and have been working in the CSS Program for 1 ½ years. It was an adjustment coming from the Developmental Center with a lot of new things to learn, but it is so rewarding to be in this position. I am currently working with 3 clients from Lanterman Developmental Center where I had worked for 19 years. Although I did not work with these particular individuals at Lanterman, I feel that my experiences with working in the DC has helped me to understand what their history and perspective is, knowing what they have experienced living at the DC for most of their lives and then the adjustment of transitioning into the community. I believe it is an important familiarity and that I have a special connection with the individuals I am working with because of the history that we share. I understand the difference in their lifestyle now from what they had been used to. I understand and am able to show sensitivity to the process of transition that these clients go through and now I can enjoy seeing the independence gained and how each one of their individuality has increased.

Testimonials
“Elwyn California provides residential services for people with Developmental Disabilities who previously resided in state Developmental Centers, including Agnews, Lanterman, Porterville, Fairview and Canyon Springs. We operate homes for people with skilled nursing needs and also operate homes for people with behavioral health needs. We have contracted for state workers from Agnews and Lanterman, and plan to contract for state workers from Sonoma in homes that we are developing for current Sonoma Developmental Center residents. The state staff program has been beneficial in multiple directions. State employees are able to continue service to people with disabilities while maintaining their state staff status, people we serve receive continuity of care, and families have the assurance that staff who already know how to care for their loved ones remain involved in their lives.”
