SDSU Impaction

• The CSU defines Impaction as having more qualified applicants than spaces, for the campus itself or its programs

• All majors at SDSU are impacted, therefore SDSU admits by major. Applicants may have slightly different eligibility indexes (EI) for different majors and for local applicants, and vary each year depending on the applicant pool

• Average EI’s (GPA x 800 + SAT) = 4,000+ for all majors

The Fine Print• Unless requested, fall 2019 applicants should not send

transcripts• Admission is based on self reported information• Decisions will be made by early March• Admitted students have until May 1 to accept the offer of

admission, place a $400 deposit (if needed), and submit official 7th semester transcripts from all institutions

• Absolutely no D’s or F’s• Final transcripts with graduation date posted due July 15• Living on campus is required for two years, unless

graduating from a local area high school or an approved petition (for North County students)

Financial Resources and Scholarship Information

• All applicants are encouraged to file a FAFSA or CA Dream Act application. Many scholarships close February 8!

• Scholarships open now with robust funding ($$$):– McCuen Economics Scholarship– Shirley Ann Speilman (interest in Chinese language/culture)– Stanley and Frances Quon (interest in Chinese language/culture)– McGrory Scholarship for Classics– Prebys Student Leader Scholarship (must be part of ASB)– Prebys Biomedical – President’s Diversity Scholarship (local admission area only)– SDSU Merit Scholarship (invitation only, local, and must

have 4.0+ GPA with 1460 SAT or 33 ACT)
