The High Impact Leadership: Essentials program is designed for high-performing individuals who demonstrate leadership potential regardless of position title at UGA; however, it is especially beneficial to those who are already in or aspire to be in leadership positions. The highly interactive series encompasses key areas of leadership, including personal leadership behaviors, communication styles, emotional intelligence and managing conflict and a discussion with one the University of Georgia’s Senior Administrators. As part of the program, each participant will complete a personalized Hogan Assessment and participate in an individual feedback session. To register, please see the session descriptions and schedule (pgs. 2 and 3) and the fee payment authorization form (pg. 4). Space is limited! Session 1, Wednesday, April 19: Cohort Teambuilding and Leadership Thinking
This opening session begins with experiential team building at the indoor Ramsey Center Challenge Course and explores group communication,
trust, problem-solving skills and leadership styles. The afternoon workshop includes a discussion on leadership and an exploration of your own
leadership qualities and philosophy.
Session 2, Thursday, April 27: Crucial Conversations
Wouldn’t it be great if we could learn to talk to just about anyone about just about anything? Imagine how much more fulfilling our personal
and professional relationships could be if we knew how to address the difficult topics that keep us stuck. Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking
When the Stakes are High (by Kerry Patterson, Ron McMillan, Joseph Grenney, and Al Spitzler) provides practical tools and tips for preparing for
high stakes conversations.
Session 3, week of May 1: Hogan Assessment and Individual Feedback Sessions
Each participant will complete a Hogan Assessment and receive an individual feedback session. The Hogan assessment is designed to evaluate
personal qualities that support success in career, leadership behavior and working relationships.
Sessions 4 & 5, Tuesday, May 9:
Mastering Conflict in the Workplace
Conflict happens in the workplace. Rather than trying to avoid the inevitable, learn techniques to help you become successful at promoting
constructive working relationships and best practices for dealing with conflict.
Emotional Intelligence for Leaders
Develop your Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Develop the ability to understand the role of EQ in leadership, communication and influence.
Participants will also gain insights into perceptions and its importance in the workplace, understand how EQ influences your worldview, and
examine strategies to apply EQ in the workplace for building teamwork and accountability.
Session 6, Thursday, May 18: Leadership Perspectives at UGA and Program Close
The program closes with a reevaluation of your personal leadership philosophy and a discussion with Dr. Laura Perry Johnson, Associate Dean
for Extension in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, about her personal leadership experiences and style.
