Hour of Power POWER lines JUNE 2013 A New Address and a New Name The first service in the new facility will be on 7th July and will be aired in New Zealand in October. This delay is to allow for change over, fit out and for the technical team to get everything ready for transmission. Internationally we will be airing re-runs for that period. (This is in keeping with traditional period of re-runs which Hour of Power had until 3 years ago). The final service in the Crystal Cathedral will be on the 30th June and we will air in October (date to be finalised). The name Hour of Power will remain but the church will become Shepherd’s Grove which reflects the area’s early history. Below is Bobby’s explanation of the decision on the name: “Back when the Garden Grove Community Church was still young, my grandfather purchased a statue of Jesus: The Good Shepherd. Unfortunately he used the $500 he and my pregnant grandmother had saved up for her delivery. When he told her, she was understandably upset and an argument ensued. Later that night as she was filling her car with gas she was terribly surprised by sirens, flashing lights, and confetti falling from above her. She was the 1 millionth person to fill up with gas at this particular station and received a grand prize of…$500!” “This statue has become a wonderful symbol for our church, and still is to this day. Special Offer Our Growing 5000 Partners commit $25 per month to support this Ministry. Last month, in appreciation for their ongoing commitment, we sent them a 4GB memory stick with a clear reminder of the cross of Jesus Christ, the source of our hope. Robert and Bobby

Congratulations Daniel!

Pray for Arvella

Farewell Meta

As the Hour of Power enters it’s last days at the Crystal Cathedral we were treated to Bobby interviewing his father, Robert Anthony Schuller.

It was has been six years since Robert has been in the Crystal Cathedral and an absolute treat for supporters who enjoyed listening to him in the past. There was a palpable warmth between father and son and a number of issues were discussed surrounding Robert’s absence for the first time in front of the congregation. (You can view the interview on 7th July.)

Mrs. Schuller, 83, suffered a stroke early in May. She has been working with therapists to regain use of her left arm and leg and has received a positive evaluation from her doctors. Please keep Dr. and Mrs Schuller in your prayers at this difficult time.

24 year old Meta McDonald who sang in the Crystal Cathedral Academy Choir passed away on April 20th.

l

Many Hour of Power viewers were aware of Meta’song struggle with brain and spine cancer and were praying for her. Our sympathies are with her family.

Daniel McGrew has been cast in the title role of Orfeo in Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo Favola in Musica” to be performed this year in Arezzo, Italy.

Daniel was a student at Crystal Cathedral Academy and still sings at many services. He is now completing his fourth

s e m e s t e r a t O b e r l i n Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio. This talented young man has performed two main-stage roles with the Oberlin Opera Theatre, spent two winter terms studying and performing as part of Emmanuel Music’s Bach Institute, appeared as a featured young artist with Windsor music in Boston, and performed on numerous concerts, recitals, and master classes in Oberlin.
