A Conventual Experience Convento do Carmo

First ever historical and luxury hotel of

Brazil. Located in the picturesque district of

Pelourinho in Salvador, the Pestana Convento do

Carmo belongs to the traditional Pousadas de

Portugal hotel group. Construction began on this

friary in 1586, commissioned by the First Order of

Carmelite Friars. Over the centuries, it has been

the stage for major historical events and today it is

Brazil’s first luxury historic hotel. The striking

colonial architecture of the Pestana Convento do

Carmo blends with graceful furniture and works of

art, taking back to more elegant age in its imposing

lobby. Its sophisticated services ensure

unforgettable experiences for its guests.

Upon arrival we will have a site inspection at the

hotel before leaving to have dinner.


Located in the historical center of Salvador, at

Pelourinho, with a predominance of items from the

local culinary , especially the dry beef and their

classics accompaniments or the typical Bahian

moqueca based on stew fish.

Walking departure from Convento do Carmo in

direction to the Pelourinho area, a Unesco Heritage

site and the largest complex of colonial architecture

in South America. Stroll through the spacious

squares and narrow, bustling streets lined with

buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by,

soaking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city.

Be ready! A little surprise is being prepared for you.

We continue our walk towards São Francisco

Church, the most ornate Baroque church in Brazil

completely gilded in gold leaf. We will have time to

see the wonderful views of the “All Saints Bay”,

from the Municipal Square,.

Discovering Salvador Day 2 - 7th October


Get inspired! Day 2 - 7th October

From the All Saints Bay we will departure towards

north along the scenic Coconut Highway leading to

Praia do Forte, a former fishing village, 80 kms

north of Salvador, home to some of the best

beaches in Bahia. Lunch will be served at the

award winning Tivoli Resort followed by a site

inspection of the property.

During this last day in Salvador we will have the

opportunity to visit one of the most interesting CSR

projects in the region: The Picolino Circus School .

The Picolino Circus School is one the few schools

of its kind in Brazil. It caters for both private

lessons as well as a heartwarming project catering

for underprivileged children.

This evening dinner will be served at the Villa Bahia

Boutique Hotel, a charming small property in a

premium location at Pelourinho

The Pestana Rio Atlantica Hotel with his stunning

view over Copacabana Beach occupies a

privileged position on the Avenida Atlântica.

After the visit, and a delicious lunch at Pestana

Hotel, we will depart to visit one of the city

highlights : The Corcovado!

In a convertible Jeep, we will discover one of the

most emblematic monuments of Rio de Janeiro,

classified as one of the Seven Wonders of the

World: Christ The Redeemer Statue, surrounded by

the Tijuca Forest, considered the largest urban

forest in the world, with 330 square km of

preserved Mata Atlântica (Tropical Forest), the

highest mountaintops of Rio, waterfalls and hidden

caves. A rich flora, with a great biodiversity and an

incomparable natural beauty.

To finish this first day in Rio, we will have dinner at

the totally renewed Sheraton Rio Hotel, located

near the exclusive Leblon quarter, in a unique

location facing the Ocean. A Resort inside the city!

A different city approach Day 3 - 8th October


After breakfast we will start our journey through the

historical quarter of the city of Rio de Janeiro,

discovering places such as the Municipal Theater,

Candelaria (the candle-makers), Square XV, the

"Travessa do Mercado", Imperial Court, the cultural

centre located in the beautifully-restored Banco do

Brasil, the Casa França-Brasil, Ouvidor (the

listeners) street and Gonçalves Dias Street.

From there we will have lunch at the iconic

Confeitaria Colombo.

During the afternoon we will have a panoramic view

of the North side of the city, including the visit of the

renewed Maracanã Stadium and the Sambódromo

area, the main stage of the Carnival festivities.

Historical journey. Day 4 - 9th October

Without doubt the Copacabana Palace is the most

traditional five star hotel in the city. Opened in 1923

and recognized internationally for its luxury and

sophistication. The Copacabana Palace is located

on famous Copacabana Beach.

The hotel has ten private meeting rooms with a

total capacity of 2,200 people. The splendid Salão

Nobre and Golden Hall with its famous glass dance

floor lit from below have been beautifully renovated

and reopened its doors in 1995.

To finalize the evening we invite everyone to party

at the famous samba house, located at the Lapa

Quarter, the Rio Scenarium, where we will find the

best samba live music in the city.

A special dinner & party Day 4 - Copacabana Palace Hotel


Be a “Carioca” for one day Day 5 - 10th October

We will start our morning with a bike ride at the

famous “Calçadão”, whilst discovering the

Copacabana Beach, Ipanema and Leblon. A

passion shared by many “cariocas” that use this

way of transportation on a daily basis. We will

finish our ride at another classic postcard of Rio,

The Sugarloaf. Upon arrival a cable car system will

takes us to the top of both mountains (Urca and

Sugar Loaf). An unforgettable sight from the top of

the Sugar Loaf is the view of Guanabara Bay, with

its curving shoreline and boats of all sizes.

After the sugarloaf a small panoramic tour will be

done through the quarters of Flamengo and

Botafogo, finishing at the Pestana for fresh´up and

check out. Departure to the Sofitel Rio Hotel, where

lunch will be served.

Farewell cocktails at the unique Fasano Hotel, and

transfer to the Airport, for departure on flight TP74,

by 22h35.
