General Information

SMCS - 3150

Power from the diesel engine is sent from the engine flywheel to the torque converter through anarrangement of the flex drive plate.

A pilot bore in the flywheel provides alignment for the front end of the torque converter duringinstallation.

he torque converter features a free wheel clutch that allows the converter stator to free wheelduring high speed and during low load conditions. A stator that is free wheeling changes theconverter into a fluid coupling for better efficiency at the high speed end.

he transmission oil is cooled by sending oil to the transmission oil cooler.

he transmission has the following features!

" six#speed forward

" three#speed reverse

" constant mesh

" countershaft transmission

he transmission contains electrical solenoids in order to shift from the forward direction to thereverse direction. he transmission will shift from first through sixth gears. $ifth gear is

automatically engaged from fourth gear when the engine speed reaches high idle.

he direction and speed are changed manually by the operator with the transmission control lever.he transmission control lever is mounted on the left side of the steering column. he

transmission control lever is a dual function lever. he selection of the gear is made by twistingthe lever. %ou lift the lever upward in order to select the $&'(A') position. %ou push the lever

downward in order to select the '*+*',* position.
