Jacks

Pneumatic Nail Guns

• Pneumatic nailers use compressed air power to set many nails very quickly.

• Their design eliminates the need to grab and hold the nail.

• When operating a pneumatic nail gun, the nose of the nailer must be depressed against a firm surface before it will fire.

Pneumatic Nail Guns - Safety• Proper PPE is required

• Ear protection, safety goggles, hard hat

• Never point the nail gun at your own body or towards anyone else

• Before using a pneumatically powered nailer for the first time, it is important to read the manufacturer’s instructions.

• Before attempting repairs be sure to disconnect the tool from the air hose.

Powder-Actuated Nail Guns

• Powder-actuated tools are excellent when there is no air or electric power.

• They can fire fasteners directly into concrete, which is their primary use.

• Alternative methods (drilling and anchors) are much more labor-intensive.

Powder-actuated nailers act as a low-velocity fastening system that is used to drive steel pins

or threaded studs into masonry and steel.

• Proper PPE is required• Ear protection, safety goggles, hard hat

• Never point the nail gun at your own body or towards anyone else

• Always make sure to select the proper size pin for the job and never load the tool until it is time to fire

• Special training and certification is required before using any kind of powder-actuated fastening tool

Pavement Breakers• Pavement Breakers are well

suited for breaking up concrete during demolition work.

• A typical pneumatic model weighs between 50 and 90 pounds (20 to 40 kg).

• Consider what is under the area being broken up, such as wiring or piping.

Pavement Breakers - Safety

•Wear the appropriate PPE• Gloves, hard hat, ear protection

eye protection, boots

• Follow the tool manufacturer’s guidelines

•Know what is underneath what your breaking up (power lines, gas lines, water, sewer)

Jacks

• Jacks can be used for various tasks, such as raising equipment for the installation of permanent footings and vibration isolators.

• A jack should never be depended upon to hold a load

• Lift, position supporting materials, and then remove the load from the jack.

Hydraulic Jacks

• Hydraulic jacks use the transfer of liquids to lift heavy material

• A Porta-Power is an example of a hydraulic jack
