SolutionDont chargeUseful SolutionUse a technique to stopthe flow of current after charging Is completeBack to the ProblemWhere is power usedHow much power is usedMobile phone charger plugged in at the wall after battery full2.5 watts per hourPhone charger plugged in at the wall and turned on, but no mobile phone connected1.7 wattsOver 1 year you would use about35kWhrPower used by mobile phone chargerProblem Continued .35kWhr comes out to be only Rs.420 per year.NOT MUCH!!!

Well there isn't just one charger in our houseFor a laptop charger the amount multiplies by 10.Problem Continued .One can save up toRs.10000 per year for 4 mobile chargersAnd 2 laptop chargersOur StrugglePLAN AUsing a relay to stop flow of current after charging is completeSadly wasted a lot of effort still remained just an ideaPLAN BUsing a timer that is user defined to stop current flow after time is overPLAN CPostpone PresentationStruggle ContinuedMost of the batteries can be charged fully by a 5 hour timer but as that cannot be demonstrated so we assembled a 15 min timer instead.

Cost EffectivenessThis device costs only Rs.100. It is mechanically operated so doesnt use electric power at all.

We could've used a micro-controller but it wouldve cost more than Rs.3000 and wouldve used electricity itself thus defying both our goal.

So our power saver is 3000% cheaper than microcontroller switch.DemonstrationOr somethingHope everyone learned something about the value of saving electricityTHE END
