Conclusions – RAAS in POTS n  Things are screwy n  Unusual RAAS profile in POTS

q  Low blood volume q  Low plasma renin activity q  Low aldosterone

n  More work is needed to understand physiology q  Decreased ACE2 activity? q  Elevated ANG II due to less degradation? q  Why are aldosterone levels low?

n  Can the kidney not hold onto sodium in POTS? q  May explain the need for high sodium diets and low

blood volume in POTS.
