4th Erbil International Building, Construction and Heavy Materials Machinery Exhibition was held between 3rd and 6

th of March 2011 in Erbil, Iraq. “Red ribbon” was cut by Mr. Aydın Selcan – Consul General of Turkey, Mr. Sefin Dizayi – Education Minister of Northern Irak Regional Government, Mr. Semir Abdullah – Mayor of Erbil, Mr. Sinan Çelebi - Trade Minister of Northern Iraq Regional Government, Mr. Nawzad Hadi Mawlood – Governor of Erbil, Mr. Dara Celil Hayat – President of Erbil Chamber of Commerce at the official opening ceremony.

4th Erbil International Building, Construction and Heavy Materials Machinery Exhibition built on the success of previous ones providing an excellent opportunity for building and construction industry members in order to display their latest products and services, to find local dealer/partner, to expand their business in the region. The event gathered major companies of the industy, buyers, executives and key decision makers, trade union, government and ministry representatives, contractors, VIP guests and dealers by creating an ideal business environment for all parties. Besides variety of business meetings between local and international business people, Pyramids Group organized a dinner 5 Star Erbil Khanzat Hotel.

Sami Abdul Rahman Park. Exhibitors are from;

Although there has been civil unrest and political problem in many Middle Eastern &North African Countries, Iraq has been experiencing the most peaceful and stabilized days in the history. Northern Iraq, particularly the city of Erbil, gets benefit of this stabile environment. As a result of that, significant number of people visited 4th Erbil International Building, Construction and Heavy Materials Machinery Exhibition. The event attracted 17,883 total number of visitors from the Iraqi cities of Suleymaniah, Dohuk, Zaho, Basra, Baghdad and outside of Iraq. 5160 visitors are professionals in building and construction industry who are executives, company owners, buyers and local government officals etc. Also, 1045 visitors came from outside of Iraq.

Visitor Promotion Strategies

Significant investment was made in marketing communication strategy in order to attract a maximum number of visitors to the event. 4th Erbil International Building, Construction and Heavy Materials Machinery Exhibition was aggressively promoted by using the following strategies:

• newspaper advertisements in English, Kurdish and Arabic • advertisements and editorial coverage in various industry publications • regular press releases in newspapers, magazines and regional websites • e-mail and fax campaigns directly targeting industry professionals in Iraq and in the whole

Middle East. • SMS broadcasts to inform as many people as possible about the event • flyers and triads to further raise public awareness on the event • radio announcements and direct mailing campaigns

This aggressive marketing campaign was held via; Street billboards in the cities of Erbil, Zaho, Dohuk and Suleymaniah; Turkmen TV,

Kurdsat and Zagros TV Stations, Radio Nawa, Asiacell and Korek mobile operators, Xebat, Hawler, Asoxendan, Al-aalem, Al bayan, Az-zaman, Al-ittihad newspaers & industrial magazines.

Beside those marketing elements, Pyramids Group Project & Sales teams have run invitation delivery campaign in the region to related business groups, VIP invitations to local officials, chambers of commerce a month prior to the event. Roll-up banners were often used at shopping malls, cafes & restaurants.

The Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region is a tremendous market for the global business world. Within the next decade, the MENA population is projected to supersede European Union with the growing at a rate of 3% versus the 0.8% of the EU. The market of 326 Million Consumers is projected to double in size within 18 years, while the EU market is expected to double in size in approximately 87 years. Ventures Middle East expects to see satisfactory growth numbers in the building, construction industry. Besides Iraq’s potential, multi-billion dolar projects in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman,

Kuwait and Qatar’ s preperation for 2022 World Cup are the leading business projects and markets for the near future.

Iraqi Market

The government has announced plans to build 2 million housing units by 2014 to cater for growing demand for low income housing. The focus on infrastructure will present substantial opportunities for those construction companies willing to enter the market. A lack of capacity and ability among local construction companies has led the government to call for international participation in rebuilding Iraq's infrastructure.

Business Monitor International, (BMI) forecasts that Iraq's construction industry which

driven by demand for infrastructure, posts 4.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) real growth in 2010. Over the medium growth will remain robust at 7.3% on average per year between 2010 and 2014.

Erbil

One of the world's oldest continually settled towns continuously inhabited for about 8000 years by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Sasanians, Arabs, And Ottomans. Being the fourth largest city & historic town of mesopotamia, Erbil became a major trading centre on the route between Baghdad and Mosul and still plays a role today with significant road links to the outside world.

Erbil was ranked 5th by a panel of industry experts at “Middle East Cities of The Future” research. The research was prepared by FDI Intelligence, sub-section of Financial Times, and Erbil has got 5th place in the criteria of “foreign direct investment potential” This single figure can explain that Erbil has huge importance in terms of business opportunities not only in Iraq, also Middle East Region.

Erbil International Fairground

Considered the most modern exhibition venue in Iraq, Erbil International Fairground has a prestigious location next to Sami Abdul Rahman Park in the center of Erbil. It offers 24,000 sqm

of exhibition space, air conditioned halls 19,000 m and additional 5,000 m outside exhibition

area. Moreover, It has internet service, parking area and extra equipments in case of need during exhibiitons.
