Graduate Diploma of Health and Medical Sciences

Why study this degree?

The Graduate Diploma of Health and Medical Sciences offers:

• A program of learning that non-science and other graduates can apply in a broad range of professional contexts.

• Preparation for graduate-entry Medicine.

• New knowledge and skills for professionals working in the health industry.

The new programs are ideal for:

• University graduates from a non-science field looking to work in roles requiring health or medical sciences knowledge and skills.

• Graduates seeking to develop their understanding of health and medical sciences prior to applying for Medicine.

• Professionals working in health care, whose careers and professional interests would benefit from broadening their health and medical knowledge and skills.

• High achieving Graduate Diploma graduates may be eligible for an offer of interview for graduate-entry Medicine at the School of Medicine, Sydney, if they also meet the GPA, GAMSAT, Notre Dame Portfolio and other eligibility requirements.

Entry Requirements

A completed undergraduate Bachelor degree.

Duration

The standard duration for the Graduate Diploma of Health and Medical Sciences is one year of full-time study. A student is able to enrol in this award on a part-time basis.A blended learning approach includes online activities and lectures and tutorials delivered after-hours, and through some weekend intensives.

Fees

The Programs have the following loan scheme available for eligible students:

FEE-HELPThe FEE-HELP loan scheme assists eligible fee-paying students with the payment of all, or part, of their tuition fees, not including additional study costs, such as accommodation or textbooks. Your FEE-HELP debt will be indexed each year in line with the Consumer Price Index.

The School of Medicine, Sydney offers three postgraduate Programs that give a broad range of graduates the opportunity to learn about health and medical sciences and to enhance their career prospects in fields where these skills and knowledge are an advantage. The Graduate Diploma of Health and Medical Sciences introduces the fundamental biological sciences that underpin human health and wellbeing, and strengthens students’ appreciation of the broader context of health and health care. The Graduate Diploma of Health and Medical Sciences may also be completed by studying the Graduate Certificate in Health Sciences and the Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences. Students may also choose to enrol in individual courses through these programs, according to their professional development needs.
