Johnson & Johnson with 125 years of history has realized the importance and need of healthy

practices way back in 1943 with the development of Credo by Robert Wood Johnson, former

chairman and member of the founding family. This was long before anyone ever heard of the

term “Social Responsibility” and since then J&J has been setting industry benchmarks for

sustainable tomorrow.

J&J has started setting formal goals towards sustainable solutions since 1990. It has come up with an organization wide plan towards eco-friendly solutions by setting 5 year plans to achieve the targets. The Safety, health and Environment department operate and guide the initiatives taken by all of its operating companies. The company has classified its various programs under triple bottom line:

1. Healthy planet- Five year plans to move towards eco-friendship

2. Healthy people- Safety and health of employees and their families

3. Healthy Growth with Better Future- Focus on R&D for better tomorrow

Poster shows the result of the initiatives, touching lives in different parts of the world such as Nepal, Brazil, Sudan, East Europe, Darfur, India etc. Many of the company initiatives were pioneered in industry and adopted by others as best practices (ERGO, Safety Fleet).
