The National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa is making
available funding for postdoctoralresearch. Prof. Theodorus du
Plessis, Head of the Department of Linguistics and Language
Practice at
the University of the Free State in South Africa, invites
suitably qualified researchers, who have
completed a PhD on a topic related to sociolinguistics, the
sociology of language, the sociology of
translation and interpreting or the politics of language during
the past five years to apply for this
funding opportunity. The best applicant(s) will be selected, and
the application will be motivated with

Fellowship
For the 2014 academic year, the value of fellowship will be as
follows:Amount and Duration
Stipend R150 000 Per annumInternational travel grant R45 000 -
Maximum allowed during the funding period
Local travel grant R15 000 - Maximum allowed per annum, based on
need
Institutional contribution R15 000 Per annum2. NRF Innovation
Postdoctoral FellowshipSuccessful applicants will receive funding
for a period of three years. The total innovation
postdoctoral fellowship package for 2014 is as follows:R 220 000
p.a. (non-taxable stipend)
R 50 000 p.a (contribution towards research costs)
R 15 000 p.a (institutional contribution)Beneficiaries are
elligible for a local travel grant to a maximum of R 25 000 and
an
international travel grant to a maximum of R 45 000. which can
be used during the
course of the funding period for conferences, workshop
attendance or visits to a
laboratory/collaborator.
